'Low-point' in Rajasthan politics: Rajyavardhan Rathore on Congress protest against Governor

BJP MP Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore criticised Congress government's behaviour outside Governor Kalraj Mishra's House and called it a "low-point" in Rajasthan politics.

Rathore said, "What Congress government did at Governor House was a low-point in Rajasthan politics.

There is no governance, those in power are lodged at a five-star hotel since weeks.

People are suffering due to various issues.

And they are saying that they cannot take responsibility of Governor's security, then you can understand the law and order situation in Rajasthan." A BJP delegation met Governor Kalraj Mishra over the COVID-19 situation in the state on July 25.

'Unhappy MLAs should attend assembly session': Gehlot to rebel legislators

Expressing confidence that his government will complete its full term, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday said 'unhappy MLAs' should attend the assembly session as they have been elected on Congress symbol. Gehlot said he wants rebel MLAs to attend the assembly session next month and also took a veiled dig at MLAs supporting former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, saying they were 'playing the lap of BJP'. "I still want that those unhappy MLAs should attend the assembly session as they have been elected on Congress symbol. It is my responsibility to ensure that they are seen standing with the government in front of the public," he said. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra agreed to convene assembly session on August 14. Speaking on it, the Chief Minister said he was happy that the governor has finally accepted his request to call the Assembly. Gehlot also attacked BSP chief Mayawati and alleged that she is making remarks under pressure from BJP. "Mayawati's complaint is not logical as all six BSP MLAs merged with us. She is giving a statement under pressure from BJP. The Centre is using ED, Income Tax, CBI and hence she is forced to give such a statement," he alleged.

Sachin Pilot congratulates Rajasthan's new Congress chief amid political crisis

Former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot congratulated state's new Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra on Wednesday. Pilot also hoped that the new chief will take care of the party workers whose hard work helped Congress to form the government in the state. Pilot's statement came after Dotasra formally took over as Rajasthan Congress chief. Pilot was Congress chief in Rajasthan before he was sacked from the post earlier this month. He was sacked after he rebelled against Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Pilot was the Congress president in Rajasthan for six years. He was widely credited for leading party to victory in 2018 assembly polls. Meanwhile, CM Gehlot trooped to the residence of Governor Kalraj Mishra. This came after Raj Bhavan returned his proposal to convene session of state assembly for third time. The state government had proposed Mishra to reiterate its demand to convene assembly session from July 31. Gehlot government, however, didn't mention whether it will seek a trust vote in the House. Earlier, Mishra had suggested a 21-day notice period to convene the House. He had sought clarity on sessionโ€™s agenda and also advised live-streaming of the floor test, in case it was held. Mishra had also asked about Covid-19 pandemic-related precautions in the assembly.

Rajasthan political crisis: Sachin Pilot welcomes formation of 3-member committee by Sonia Gandhi

Rajasthan former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot met Congress president Sonia Gandhi and other senior Congress leaders in the national capital on August 10. While briefing the media about the meeting, Pilot said, "Since past some time some MLAs were in Delhi, there were some issues which we wanted to highlight. I did that. I'd been saying since beginning that all these things were based on principle. I always thought these things are essential to be raised in party's interest". He further added, "Several things were said, I heard a lot of things. I was surprised by a few things that were said. I think we should always maintain restraint and humility. There is no place for personal malice in politics. We had formed govt in Rajasthan after 5 years of hard work". He also added that he welcome the formation of 3-member committee by the Congress President. He said, "Sonia Gandhi ji heard all our concerns and the governance issues that we raised. Formation of the 3-member committee by the Congress president is a welcome step. I think all the issues will be resolved". "Party gives us post and can also take it back. I've no desire for any post but I wanted our self-respect to remain intact. I've contributed to the party for 18-20 years now. We've always attempted to ensure the participation of people who worked hard to form the government," said Pilot.
