Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched Naval Innovation and Indigenisation Organisation (NIIO) through an online webinar on August 13. UP CM Yogi Adityanath and others were also present at the event. NIIO puts in place dedicated structures for end-users to interact with academia and industry towards fostering innovation and indigenisation for self-reliance in defence in keeping with vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Ram Temple trust head, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, has tested positive for Covid-19. Das is the chief of Ayodhya's Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust. 80-year-old Das is currently in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken detailed information on the health condition of Das. He has spoken to Mathura DM and Dr Trehan of Medanta hospital. Adityanath has also requested for immediate medical attention to Das at the facility. Das had recently shared dais with PM Modi and other VIPs at Ram Temple's groundbreaking ceremony. He was among the people on the stage at the ceremony in Ayodhya on August 5. Other VIPs included CM Adityanath, UP Governor Anandiben Patel and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. PM Modi had participated in bhoomi pujan and laid the foundation stone of Ram Temple. The construction of Ram Temple, which is being overseen by Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust, has begun nine months after the Supreme Court verdict.

The continuous downpour led to waterlogging in parts of Gurugram. The city received heavy rainfall since Aug 12 mid-night which affected the normal lives. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh will receive rain-shower today.
Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested a man with currency notes in Uttar Pradesh's Chandauli. The seized notes are of Indian foreign currencies and worth Rs 92,34,724 lakh. The accused person was carrying the currency from Gorakhpur to Kolkata.
A retired bank manager in Gorakhpur during lockdown painted 40 verses of Hanuman Chalisa. Ravi Dwivedi has depicted each verse on a 3 ft 2 inch long and 2 ft 6 inch broad painting. He has gifted many of his paintings to state chief ministers and President of the country. He now plans to put up his paintings in exhibition once the pandemic is over. He wishes to invite Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for its inaugural.
Vegetables prices increased in Gorakhpur due to rain. "Bottle gourd, which used to get Rs. 10 a kg, is now at Rs. 60 per kg. Parwal and tomatoes are at Rs. 80 per kg. All the vegetables have become expensive. Vegetables were cheaper in the lockdown period and are now expensive," said a customer.
Giving updates about COVID-19 preparedness in Uttar Pradesh, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish K Awasthi informed Antigen test kits have arrived and will be used from June 24. "Health Department has informed that Antigen test kits have arrived and they will be brought into use from tomorrow. Special focus will be on Noida, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Kanpur Nagar districts," said UP Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish K Awasthi.
In the view of COVID-19 outbreak, Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra would be resumed on August 16. Sanitization drive is being conducted at the temple premise to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The administration has set guidelines for the pilgrims visiting the shrine. Maximum of 500 pilgrims per day will be permitted in a guarded manner from outside Jammu and Kashmir.
