MLB Suspends Miami Marlins’ Season After COVID-19 Outbreak

MLB Suspends Miami Marlins’ Season After COVID-19 Outbreak Major League Baseball has announced the suspension of the Miami Marlins’ 2020 season after 15 players and two staff members tested positive for COVID-19.

As of Tuesday, the team was still quarantined and undergoing daily testing in Philadelphia.

33 players had previously traveled to the city for their season-opening series against the Phillies.

The Marlins will now have seven total games to make up: four against the Baltimore Orioles and three against the Washington Nationals.

In a statement, MLB said that the league's response was “triggered immediately” upon learning of the positive cases.

MLB, via statement They also confirmed that the outbreak has been limited to the Marlins, with no new positive tests among the other 29 teams since Friday.
