In the Buenos Aires town of Gerli, a 37-year-old man died when the car he was traveling hit another vehicle.

The driver was high speed chasing a thief that was riding a motorcycle.

The thief stole a cell phone.

The incident occurred this Tuesday (July 28) afternoon, at the intersection of Camino General Belgrano and Basavilbaso avenue.

Justice ordered the arrest of the driver that caused the accident.

Judicial sources reported that it all started in Lanús, where a criminal who was on board a motorcycle, stole a cell phone from a man who was moving in a red Chevrolet Cruze car.

The victim, who was next to another occupant in the passenger seat, decided to chase the “thief on a motorcycle” at high speed for several blocks.

According to sources, upon reaching the junction with the Camino General Belgrano, which is a two-way avenue, the car hit a gray Volkswagen Fox.

As a result of the crash, the driver of that car, identified as Mauro Alberto Varela, died almost instantly while the other two occupants of the Red Cruze suffered minor injuries.
