Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president JP Nadda attended 'bhoomi pujan' programme of nine district-level party offices in Telangana via video-conferencing on August 10. While addressing the gathering, Nadda said, "I condemn Telangana government's COVID-19 management. Prime Minister's Ayushman Bharat scheme gave benefit to 55 crore families but Telangana government kept its people deprived of it, by not implementing it."
Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt was released from the hospital on Monday. The actor was admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital after he complained of breathlessness and uneasiness in the chest. Dutt also tested negative for Covid-19. Hospital officials said the actor is “absolutely fine”. On Saturday, Sanjay tweeted that he had tested negative for Covid-19 but would be kept ‘under medical observation’. “Just wanted to assure everyone that I’m doing well. I’m currently under medical observation and the Covid-19 report is negative as well. With the help and care of the excellent doctors, nurses, and staff at Lilavati hospital, I should be home in a day or two. Thank you for your well wishes and blessings. Please stay safe, everyone,” he had written.

Former President Pranab Mukherjee has tested positive for Covid-19. 84-year-old Mukherjee took to Twitter and announced the news. He found out about his positive status when he went for routine check up. Mukherjee has requested people who have come in contact to self-isolate. Leaders, cutting across party lines, have wished Mukherjee a quick recovery. Union Minister Piyush Goyal and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis wished Mukherjee a speedy recovery. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also wished the former president a quick recovery. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed concern over the development. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge also wished for a speedy recovery. Pranab Mukherjee had cancelled all his engagements and stopped going out for public functions for the last few months. In the wake of raging coronavirus epidemic, the government had asked all senior citizens to stay at home. Mukherjee, President between 2012 and 2017, was invited for the at home programme at Rashtrapati Bhavan. However, he will not attend the event in the wake of this development. Last year, Mukherjee was awarded Bharat Ratna - country's highest civilian award. He is a Congress veteran with stints in the Indira Gandhi cabinet as well.

A couple died after fire broke out at an automobile repairing shop in Assam's Jorhat on August 09. Many got severely injured and were rushed to the nearby hospital. At least three fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames. Reason behind fire is yet to be ascertained.
Gymnasiums began operations in Assam's Guwahati on August 03. The state government of Assam issued new guidelines for unlock 3.0 on August 02. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued guidelines for Unlock 3.0 on July 29 for resumption of activities outside containment zones. Unlock 3.0 has came into effect from August 01. The gym owners are making sure that fitness equipments and machineries are getting properly sanitised. They are taking all necessary precautionary measures like maintaining social distancing, keeping a batch of 4-5 people at a time etc. All fitness centres are closed for nearly 4 months due to coronavirus pandemic. Now, this comes as a relief to several gym owners and fitness trainers who have been facing massive financial losses after having been shut since March.
Over 40 Assam cops donated blood plasma after beating Covid-19. Assam Police organized a blood donation camp in Guwahati on August 01. It was organized in collaboration with State Health Department & National Health Mission. As per reports, a total of 67 personnel of Assam Police volunteered to donate plasma for treatment of COVID-19 patients out of which 43 personnel were found eligible to donate plasma. They were felicitated by Minister of Health Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister of State, Health department Pijush Hazarika, DGP Assam Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, Harmit Singh, ADGP(A), M P Gupta, Commissioner of Police Guwahati and other dignitaries. Amid COVID-19 pandemic, markets in Assam's Guwahati witnessed relatively low footfall ahead of Bakri Eid. Shopkeepers said their businesses have been badly hit due to COVID. "There are fewer customers in market these days. Our business is badly hit as market condition is poor," a shopkeeper said.
