BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain offered prayers at his residence on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

On the auspicious day, he said, "We all have offered prayers from our home.

Social distancing norms were followed across country.

I wish this Eid brings lot of happiness in your lives.

We all have prayed for the welfare of the country."

COVID-19: Mumbai's friends' duo providing free oxygen cylinders to patients

Two friends are providing free oxygen cylinders to patients in Mumbai amid coronavirus pandemic. Shahnawaz Hussain and Abbas Rizvi have become corona warriors as they are helping the patients free of cost during emergency. They began their service on June 10 through a social media campaign. Till now, they have provided around 250-300 oxygen cylinders to the patients. The duo is helping people of all communities without any discrimination. While speaking to ANI, Shahnawaz Hussain said, "Till now we have provided around 250-300 cylinders. Anybody can take cylinders from us if they have a prescription from a doctor." Another friend Abbas Rizvi added, "One of my relative who was 6-month pregnant passed away due to lack of oxygen support. It was then that we realised what kind of problem people are facing in getting oxygen support. Shahnawaz also sold his SUV car to meet the growing demand for cylinders." There are 61,807 active cases of coronavirus in Maharashtra.

Career politician and Member of Parliament, Amar Singh, passed away on August 1, 2020. He had been hospitalised in Singapore. Singh was an active commentator of domestic issues till the very end, even tweeting tributes to Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Eid-al-Adha wishes. He had been battling health issues for a long time. On March 22, he had tweeted a video from his hospital bed, supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for social distancing amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Around 3 weeks earlier, he had debunked rumours of his death with a message titled 'Tiger Zinda Hai'. A month earlier, he had posted a rapprochement message for actor Amitabh Bachchan. The two had been close friends till a falling out around a decade ago. In the political world, Singh had been considered close to Samajwadi Party founder-patron Mulayam Singh Yadav, until he quit the party in 2010. A year later, he floated the Rashtriya Lok Manch which didn't perform well in the subsequent elections. In 2014, he had joined Ajit Singh's Rashtriya Lok Dal.
