With Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan and his son hospitalised in Mumbai hospital with COVID-19, celebrities from the film world and other walks of life sent in their messages wishing the duo a speedy recovery. On social media platforms, mostly Twitter and Instagram, actors including Anupam Kher, Shabana Azmi, Boman Irani, Bhumi Pednekar, Ritiesh Deshmukh sent in their prayers and wishes. This came after the Senior Bachchan, 77, tweeted to millions of his followers: "I have tested Covid positive, shifted to hospital, hospital informing authorities, family and staff undergone tests, results awaited."
Rhea Chakraborty reached Enforcement Directorate Office in Mumbai on August 10 for further interrogation. Actress's brother Showik Chakraborty and her father also arrived at the office. Body of the deceased was brought to Mumbai from Kochi. Pilots, crew and ground staff of Air India paid tributes to the late captain. Sathe lost his life with 17 others in Kozhikode plane crash. Mortal remains of co-pilot Akhilesh Kumar were cremated on Sunday. Around 200 Air India Express employees paid tribute to the fallen co-pilot in Delhi. Kumar's mortal remains were taken to his native place in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura. An Air India Express plane overshot the runway on August 7. The aircraft fell into a valley where it split into two pieces. At least 18 people, including two pilots, were killed. There were 190 people onboard the Vande Bharat flight. The flight was bringing back Indians stranded in Dubai due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Mumbai has become the first city in India to have women symbols on traffic signals and signage. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has installed traffic signals that display female icons sporting triangular frock, a shift from the default representation of men. Maharashtra Minister for Tourism and Environment Aditya Thackery, who heads the project took to Twitter and said that the signage is "ensuring gender equality with a simple idea." However, netizens are divided on this initiative.

TV actor Sameer Sharma was found dead in his Malad apartment late on Wednesday night. Police suspected that the 44-year-old actor died by suicide. Sharma was staying at first floor of Neha CHS building, Ahinsa Marg in Malad (west). Police said a security guard found him dead and alerted society members. A case of accidental death (ADR) has been registered. Police have sent actor's body to a govt hospital for autopsy. According to police, Sharma had rented the apartment in February. Sharma had appeared in shows Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Jyoti among others. Sharma is best known for his role in the TV serial Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke. The actor is also listed as a cast member in films such as Hasee Toh Phasee and Ittefaq. Sameer's death was condoled by actors Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. Sameer's last social media post, a picture of sea, was shared on Instagram on July 29.
