Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday. On Monday, Yediyurappa’s daughter also tested positive. The Karnataka CM in hospital and stable. He was advised by doctors to get admitted. The Karnataka CM has also asked people who met him recently to get themselves tested. Earlier on Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had tested positive for coronavirus. Shah is the first union cabinet minister to get infected. Shah had also attended the recent cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Home Minister was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram after being advised by the doctors. Shah had shared the news on Twitter. On Sunday, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit was also infected. Purohit was asked to home-quarantine by the doctors after he showed mild symptoms of coronavirus

Chief Minister of Karnataka, BS Yediyurappa met Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu in Delhi. Yediyurappa met Naidu on Sep 19 before returning to Bengaluru. While talking to media persons, BS Yediyurappa said that he is expecting cabinet expansion before Karnataka Assembly session.
Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa laid the foundation stone for new building of the Karnataka Bhavan in New Delhi. Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi and DV Sadananda Gowda were also present at the event. They also performed 'puja' for construction work of Cauvery Karnataka Bhavan.
Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa participated in the 'Kalyan Karnataka' festival celebrations in Kalaburagi. The festival was organised at DRA ground to celebrate the occasion of Kalayan Karnataka Diwas on September 17. He garlanded the statue of Sardhar Vallabhbhai Patel at SVP Chowk in Kalaburagi.
Heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Karnataka on September 20. State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre has issued alert of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over coasts and parts of Malnad regions of Karwar. The Indian Meteorological Department has also issued an alert to stop all fishing activities near the coast. Incessant rainfall led to water logging in several low lying districts of Karnataka.
Rescue operations are underway by State Disaster Relief Force in Karnataka on September 20, following heavy rainfall in the region. SDRF along with local youth rescued people in low-lying areas of Udupi. Heavy rainfall led to severe water logging in several villages. According to Indian Meteorological Department heavy rainfall is likely expected in coastal Karnataka on September 21. Food and shelter were provided to the rescued people.
Maharashtra's Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis took a jibe on Uddhav Thackeray led Maharashtra government over prioritising Kangana over COVID-19. Former CM said, "Maharashtra government assumes that their fight is against Kangana and not COVID-19. Today Maharshtra has maximum corona cases. Country's 40% death due to corona takes place in Maharashtra." He further said, "If Maharashtra government applies 50% of the power they are applying in the fight against Kangana to fight COVID-19 then we will be able to protect the lives of people."

Auxiliary nurse midwife qualified students held protest in Patna on September 08. The protest was against availability of job vacancies. They protested near the residence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. One of the protestors said, "I would request the Chief Minister to address our problem and if he does not understand then today neither his police nor his baton charge will work. We have nothing to lose, in the end we will self immolate."
Talking on death of three aspirants of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) by suicide ahead of the exam in Tamil Nadu, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Dr Saravanan said that NEET is not needed in Tamil Nadu. "Yesterday three students died by suicide ahead of NEET. DMK's contention is that NEET is not needed in Tamil Nadu. When there is no common syllabus throughout India how can government conduct a common exam for MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) selection? It'll be discussed in state assembly session," said Dr Saravanan. The examination took place on September 13.
Health Ministry Secretary Rajesh Bhushan during the Health Ministry briefing on September 08 informed about the contribution of states to the COVID-19 statistics. Rajesh Bhushan said, "Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu contribute 62% to the total active cases in the country." He further informed that these five states account for 70% of deaths in the country due to COVID-19 infection. Health Ministry Secretary further informed that there are 14 states and Union Territories that have less than 5000 COVID-19 cases.
