Donald Trump was abruptly escorted by a US Secret Service agent out of theWhite House briefing room as he was beginning a coronavirus update.

Hereturned minutes later, saying there had been a “shooting” outside that was“under control".

The president said the Secret Service had shot an armedperson, who was taken to hospital.

The person's condition and motive were notknown.
