North Dakota police arrest man inside library for not showing his ID

Police in Williston, North Dakota arrested a man after he refused to show his ID.

Travis Heinze, 44, was visiting the library in Williston on July 21 when a staff member informed him he was in a COVID-restricted area and asked him to move elsewhere.

In footage captured by Heinze, two police officers are seen arriving as he is about to leave.

One officer can be heard asking Heinze his ID, which he refuses.

The situation quickly escalates and Heinze is detained.

The 44-year-old explained: "I reached a settlement with the librarian to leave and use their wifi outside the building in my car.

As I was leaving the cops arrived and demanded my ID.

I offered to make an even exchange and then I was arrested." Heinze said he was "waiting my criminal trial in mid-December 2020" It is against the law to refuse to show your ID in North Dakota and a number of other states across the US.
