Ahead of Republic Day, Delhi Police Commissioner S N Shrivastava on Saturday held a review meeting in which he also took stock of the arrangements at farmers' agitation sites to maintain law and order, officials said. In the meeting held with senior officers, the police chief took stock of anti-terrorism measures as well as action taken against criminals involved in various cases, including burglary, violation of the Excise Act and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and gambling cases, they said. Delhi Police organised an interstate coordination meeting aimed at strengthening cooperation and coordination related to preparation for Republic Day 2021. The Commissioner of Delhi Police S.N. Shrivastava chaired the meeting at PHQ along with senior police officers of other states. The main objective of the meeting was to share intelligence and terror related inputs in the background of the present prevailing scenario and the situation arising out of farmers' agitation. The officers also discussed Traffic restrictions during Republic Day celebration and steps to check unauthorised intrusion at borders. The verification of staff deployed on the duties related to Republic Day arrangements was also discussed. The officers shared intelligence on the interstate gangs operating in the NCR. The meeting ended with a resolution to have increased cooperation and coordination in policing the NCR region with emphasis on real time interaction at all levels in order to provide peaceful Republic Day arrangements and a more secure environment to citizens of Delhi and the neighboring states.

Economic Offences Wing of Delhi Police arrested absconding accused Shashank Jain. The accused is involved in inducing and duping 78 investors on the pretext of providing them kiosks on lease. He misrepresented all the investors that his company has requisite approval to provide them space on lease. In view of this, a complaint was lodged at police station Prashant Vihar. During the course of investigation, it was revealed that the accused person used to issue allotment letters to complainants and provided them kiosks on lease, against payment, without having any authority to sub-lease the kiosks. After collecting Rs. 3 Crores, the accused person closed his offices and fled the area overnight. The accused was evading the process of investigation from the initial stage. All possible hideouts were checked but no clue emerged about the accused person. After sincere efforts, the team of Economic Offences Wing finally arrested the accused. Further investigation of the case is in progress.
The sleuths of (Anti-Auto Theft Squad )AATS, Dwarka district of Delhi police have arrested the kingpin of a notorious gang of robbers and dacoits which had carried out a series of robberies, dacoities during night in several reputed schools of Delhi in March 2017. The gang used to enter school premises for robberies through vulnerable fencing points at nights and decamped with cash and other valuable articles. Five members of the gang had been arrested earlier by the police; however, Neeraj Shahu was absconding. With the arrest of Neeraj Shahu, the gang has been completely neutralized.
