Two prisoners tried to escape from Muzaffarpur jail in Bihar last night. The incident led to chaos at Khudiram Bose Memorial Central Jail in Muzaffarpur. They were later caught inside the jail premises. Three jail inmates had helped them to escape. Police registered case against five prisoners. Muzaffarpur SDO (East) Kundan Kumar said, "They were trying to escape with the help of three other prisoners but they were caught. 2 prisoners were trying to escape with the help of 3 other prisoners. Both of them were caught inside the jail premises. One of the inmates is Jumma Miyan alias Kankatwa and the other is Abhishek Kumar. Further action will be taken after registering an FIR." Further investigation is underway.
COVID-19 cases continued to surge in the country and due to it, the COVID related deaths have also been increased. Patna crematorium is working 24 hours in this tough time. In-charge of Patna Nagar Nigam crematorium, Rajkumar said, "It takes around 1 hour to burn a body. We are taking no fee to burn the body of deceased due to COVID-19 since last year. We have been working for nearly 24 hours."
Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar on April 15 took the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Patna. The vaccine was administered at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS). Bihar CM got the first jab of the vaccine on his 70th birthday on March 01.
As second wave of the coronavirus is testing the country, families and attendants of COVID-19 patients are struggling to get beds at Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) in Patna. One of the doctors at the hospital said that the "situation is not good" as most of the patients arriving at the hospital are critical. Dr Ajay Kumar Sinha said, "Situation is not good, we are receiving much more patients than we did the last time. Most of the patients we get are critical and need oxygen support." Currently there are 20,148 active cases in the state.
