Protests have broken out in many parts of Uttar Pradesh against the Hathras incident. Congress workers were lathi charged and detained by police when they were going to gherao the Chief Minister’s residence in Lucknow. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi has demanded the Chief Minister’s resignation over the Hathras shocker. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has set up a Special Investigation Team in the case and sought a report within seven days. PM Modi also called up the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and called for strict action against the guilty. Uttar Pradesh police is facing fire over the victim’s family members’ allegations that they forcefully cremated the victim’s body in the wee hours despite objections from the family members. The local administration has said that they had sought the family members’ permission before her cremation. The woman was raped in a village in Hathras by four men on September 14. After her condition deteriorated, she was referred to Delhi's Safdarjung hospital where she breathed her last on Tuesday. Watch the full video for all the details.

'Seva Saptah' is being celebrated by the BJP ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday on September 17. As part of the celebration, 70 New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) workers were felicitated on September 16 for their contribution in the society. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited compost system near Bangla Sahib Gurudwara on August 08. He further planted a tree and later addressed the problems of the residents. People complained of foul smell to which Kejriwal assured that by August 20, the problem will be resolved.

45-day Navarathri Kolu exhibition began in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore but sales of Kolu dolls have gone down due to COVID-19 pandemic. Over 10,000 varieties of dolls have been displayed by artisans at the exhibition organised by Poompuhar. Dolls made up of matchsticks, family sets, Ramayana set and models of temples were among the few varieties in the exhibition. The varieties of dolls are less than previous years as fewer artists have participated in the fest this year. Also, due to COVID pandemic, only a few visitors are visiting the expo. The organiser, Ronald Sebastine said, "Every year, Poompuhar conducts Kolu exhibition for 30 days but this year we are conducting it for 45 days. This year due to COVID, Poompuhar does not have good customer footfall. Compared to last year, artisans' stalls are very less. Last year, 20 artisans participated while this year only 15 are here. While the rest of the world is fighting a tough battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, the students of a private engineering college in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore have made a low-cost electric bike. This e-bike takes 2.5 hours to charge and can run up to 27kms. While speaking to ANI, a student, Brathikan said, "This vehicle has an electric motor. It takes 2.5 hours to charge the vehicle and it can run up to 27kms. It consumes 0.6 units of electricity." The electric bike will cost around 16,000 Rs.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said stubble burning during the coronavirus pandemic can be fatal for everyone. Kejriwal said the PUSA Research Institute has developed a capsule that can be sprayed over the fields to provide an alternative for stubble burning. Kejriwal said the Delhi government will work on developing the solution with the help of the PUSA Research Institute. Youth Congress workers staged protest outside Raj Bhavan in Kolkata on September 30 demanding justice for Hathras gang-rape victim. Protestors also demanded resignation of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The 19-year-old girl was gang-raped by four men on September 14 in Hathras, when she went to gather fodder for her cattle. She succumbed to injuries on morning of September 29 at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. Family has accused the police of performing her last rites without their consent at wee hours of September 30. Protestors were later detained by the state police.
