Police on Tuesday arrested two men for allegedly killing a 21-year-old woman outside her college in Haryana's Ballabhgarh, a murder which triggered protests with students and local residents blocking the road to Sohna. The two men were produced before a court in Faridabad district and sent to two-day police remand. A special investigation team has been formed to ensure a quick probe into the case, Haryana's Home Minister Anil Vij said. The accused, who arrived at the spot in a car, had tried to pull the woman inside, in a bid to abduct her, but she resisted after which the key accused shot her, police had said. She was taken to a hospital, but she succumbed to injuries, the ACP had said. During the investigation, it emerged that the main accused was the woman's classmate earlier, police said. Haryana Minister Vij said the accused has connections in Congress due to which the pressure mounted on the victim's family to withdraw their complaint earlier in 2018. Faridabad Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Krishan Pal Gurjar met the family members of the woman, who was shot dead by a man in Haryana's Ballabhgarh. Gurjar assured speedy justice to the family. He further said, "Family's demand of forming SIT and fast track court has been accepted. We will try our best to give them justice."
Bihar recorded a 53.54 per cent polling in the first phase of assembly polls on Wednesday, according to a release by the Chief Electoral Officer Bihar. "Till 5 pm the voter turnout in Bihar phase one election was 52.24 per cent. In 2015 elections, Phase one turnout was 54.94 per cent and in Lok Sabha elections it was 53.54 per cent. The voting is still underway in some places and the final figures will be out soon," Arora said. The CEC said 12 out of the 16 districts where polling was held are affected by left Wing Extremism (LWE). Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora on October 28 informed about the voter turnout in the first phase of the Bihar polls. He said that voter turnout of 52.24 per cent recorded till 5 pm in the first phase of the polls. "Voter turnout of 52.24% recorded till 5 pm in the first phase of #BiharPolls. In 2015, voter turnout in the first phase of assembly elections was 54.94%, and 53.54% in Lok Sabha elections," he said.
Speaking to ANI in Patna on October 28, National President of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and Member of Parliament (MP) of Lok Sabha from Bihar's Jamui, Chirag Paswan spoke on Munger incident. Paswan said, "Who is responsible for the firing and lathi-charge incident in Munger? Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is now playing the role of General Dyer who ordered the Jallianwala Bagh massacre." "I am sure CM is responsible for the incident, an investigation should be done," he added.
The Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar stated that he's ideology is to make such an environment that a farmer does not need a Minimum support price (MSP) to sell. "The last government didn't buy food grains other than wheat and paddy at Minimum support price (MSP). Why no MSP law till now. Our ideology is to make such an environment that a farmer does not need an MSP to sell," said Khattar while addressing 'Pragatisheel Kisaan Sammelan' in Karnal. "We increased harvests during Green Revolution. But did the farmer's income increase? Did he become self reliant? It doesn't seem so. This duality has plagued farmers since pre-independence from Indigo laws. They've always been restricted," CM Khattar added.
A farmer died during the BJP’S tractor rally in support of the new farm laws in Ambala. The 72-year-old farmer was participating in the rally being led by rally was led by Union Minister of State Ratanlal Kataria and BJP's Kurukshetra MP Naib Saini. DSP Anil Kumar said that Bharat Singh's son blamed intentional pushing and shoving during the tractor rally to be the cause of the farmer's death. A case has been registered under sections 302, 341, 148, 149, and 120 B of the Indian Penal Code. The BJP has alleged that some protesters linked to the Congress party had climbed the tractor, were hitting people with sticks and also pelting stones at the tractors. The BJP’s rally comes weeks after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi held a tractor rally against the farm related laws passed by the Modi government calling them anti-farmers.
