Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor's Atmanirbhar Nidhi Yojana (PM SVANidhi) beneficiaries from Uttar Pradesh on October 27. He interacted with the food vendors through video conferencing. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present during the conferencing. PM SVANidhi scheme was launched on June 01, 2020 to help poor street vendors, impacted by COVID-19, to resume livelihood activities.
Speaking to media on October 22, ahead of Bihar elections, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav spoke on being asked about Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's poll speeches in Bihar. Yadav said, "It is not important for us who comes from which state with what issues. For Bihar elections, only issues like unemployment, poverty, migration etc. related to the state are relevant." he added.
2 bike-borne criminals got injured in an encounter with police in UP's Greater Noida. The encounter broke out at Eastern Peripheral road. Speaking to media, Greater Noida DCP Rajesh Kumar Singh said, "Both criminals have been taken to hospital. We have recovered 2 stolen bikes, 2 country-made pistols with cartridges from them."

The international Suspension bridge in Uttarakhand's Dharchula town has been reopened for three days to facilitate the Nepali citizens who had served the Indian Army and other Indian organisations and wanted to cross over to collect their pensions. The bridges will remain open for five hours for three days beginning from Wednesday (October 21). Pensioners, who are citizens of Nepal and previously served in the Indian Army or other departments, came to India to withdraw pension from various banks and post offices. Speaking to media, Tehsildar of Dharchula, Mohan Goswami said, "The bridge was opened from 9 am to 2 pm on Wednesday (October 21) for Nepali citizens, who had retired from services in India. 238 Nepali citizens entered India for pensions and 151 Indian citizens went to Nepal. The bridge will be closed at 2 pm."
The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) officially renamed one of its stations as ‘Pride Station’ on October 28. The station is dedicated to the transgender community, a first for Metro services in northern India. Gautam Buddh Nagar MP Mahesh Sharma unveiled the new name of the station. Earlier, the station in Noida was known as the Sector 50 station. Six members of the transgender community have also been recruited by NMRC. The initiative was inspired by the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, passed by the Centre for the protection of the rights of the transgender people and working towards their welfare. A 12-year-old minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by two persons living in her neighbourhood in UP's Greater Noida. The incident took place in Dadri on October 06. An FIR has been lodged and the accused have been taken into custody. Speaking to media, DCP (Women Security) in Police Commissionerate of GautamBuddha Nagar, Vrinda Shukla said, "An FIR has been lodged and the accused have been taken into custody."
Air Quality Index (AQI) of national capital remained in poor condition on October 19 amid fear of coronavirus pandemic. Speaking to ANI, the Senior Director of Interventional Cardiology in Max Super Speciality Hospital (Patparganj) and Max Multi Speciality Centre in Noida, Dr Manoj Kumar said, "It has been hypothecated that in winter there is possibility that per day cases even can cross 2 lakh as per the study from MIT." "40% cases can increase on per day basis in India during winter season due to many factors," he added.
