I'm at the salvation army in rochester where the organization has received recent donations of water bottles.

Due to the pandemic, the organization has not been able to provide water fountains for those in need.

Social services director cindy norgard says the salvation army serves between seventy and one hundred people that come through the doors each day.

Right now, many businesses and organizations have taken the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.

"we used to have our water fountains open and they could fill their water bottles and things like that, but with covid, we're not allowed to leave the water fountains open, we thought we could have big dispensers of water sitting out or coffee that we've done in times, but we're not allowedd to do that either.

Salvation army points out that our generosity is needed more than ever.

The organization points out a single donation can help provide the essential gifts of food, shelter and hope.
