BJP and Congress are involved in a heated war of words over the protests against the agriculture bills, which have now been signed into law by the President.
Youth Congress workers set a tractor ablaze at India Gate this morning during the protests.
5 of them were also detained later.
BJP attacked the Congress saying that their true intention of spreading ‘lawlessness’ had been exposed.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that Congress has been misleading farmers and is miffed that the Modi government has worked for the farmer community during its tenure.
He also said that tough action should be taken against those indulging in anti-social acts and said the Congress should ensure its leaders do not spread chaos.
Responding to the BJP, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh who is sitting on a protest against the agriculture related bills said that if one owns a tractor and wants to set it on fire, why should anyone else be bothered?
The members of Left trade union blocked railway track at Belgharia station in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district. They are protesting against Centre's new labour and farm laws on November 26. A demonstration was also held in Kolkata during a nationwide strike today. On the other side, Members of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, CPI(M) and Congress blocked railway track in Jadavpur as trade unions observed nationwide strike against new labour policies introduced by the Centre.
Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister of India, and former president of the Bharatiya Janata Party commented on the party's prospects in the West Bengal Assembly elections next year. Speaking at the 18th edition of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, Singh said that while a simple majority was certain, even a two-third majority couldn't be ruled out for the BJP. Commenting on the recent Bihar poll result, the Union minister said that the re-election of the NDA government was a major stamp of approval for its record of good governance. Over 'Delhi Chalo' protest march over recently enacted farm laws, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on November 26 said that "Constitution offers freedom of speech and freedom of expression to everyone." "Constitution offers freedom of speech and freedom of expression. The farmers here are agitating against the bills that they (Centre) have brought. You can't stop a person going to your capital city where Parliament is and expressing their views. Why are you stopping them? Stopping farmers is going against the Constitutional spirit and freedom of speech of this country. I think the Haryana government should have allowed them to go and Delhi government should give them space to go and sit down to present their point. If you try to stop them (farmers) then every reaction has a counter reaction," said CM Captain Amarinder Singh.

Punjab Youth Congress workers set ablaze a tractor at India Gate on Sep 28 as they were protesting against farm reforms and other issues. Later, 5 people, residents of Punjab were detained in connection with the protest and burning of a tractor near India Gate in Delhi. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan condemned the incident and said, "Today Congress showed its true colours in Delhi. In the name of farmers, some anti-social elements are trying to spread anarchy. The incident is unfortunate. They are trying to mislead farmers. Words fall short to condemn this incident."
Foreign Secretary of India Harsh V Shringla, who is on 2-day visit to met Nepal PM KP Sharma Oli. Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister of India, commented on the border tension with China, at the 18th edition of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit. While issuing an assurance that the Narendra Modi administration would not allow any violation of India's territorial integrity, Singh said that talks with China on multiple levels were underway, but there was no guarantee about the outcome. He hailed the bravery of Indian soldiers at the Line of Actual Control, and said that security forces had been given a free hand to drive the Chinese army back in case of aggression. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said India will offer production-linked incentives for high-efficiency solar modules to boost the generation of electricity from renewable sources which has the potential to generate an annual business USD 20 billion. Speaking at the RE-Invest 2020 conference, he invited global investors to join India's renewable energy journey. "There are huge renewable energy deployment plans for the next decade," he said, adding that these are likely to generate business prospects of the order of around USD 20 billion per year. "Today, India's renewable power capacity is the fourth largest in the world. It is growing at the fastest speed among all major countries," he said. Renewable energy capacity will rise to 220 GW by 2022 from the current 136 Giga Watts (GW), he added. At present, renewable energy capacity is about 36 per cent of the country's total electricity generating capacity.
