At least 17 people have been arrested for pasting posters criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's handling of the Covid-19 immunisation programme. The posters read in Hindi quoted, "why did PM Modi send vaccines of our children to foreign countries?" Congress' Rahul Gandhi tweeted the words, “Arrest me too," in both English and Hindi in relation to these arrests.

Former Attorney General & Constitutional law expert Soli Sorabjee died on Friday. The 91-year-old veteran lawyer passed away after getting infected with Covid-19. Sorabjee had served as the Attorney General for India from 1989-90 & then from 1998-2004. The Former Attorney General was admitted to a private hospital in South Delhi. President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and condoled Sorabjee's demise. VP Venkaiah Naidu, union ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, RS Prasad and Smriti Irani also paid their tribute to the former Attorney General. NCP chief Sharad Pawar and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee also tweeted and expressed their condolences. Born in 1930, Soli Sorabjee had been honoured with Padma Vibhushan in 2002.

Justice NV Ramana took oath as the new Chief Justice of India (CJI) on April 24. He was administered the oath by President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu along with other dignitaries were present at the ceremony. Justice NV Ramana succeeded Justice SA Bobde and became the 48th person to hold the post of Chief Justice of India.
President Kovind, PM Modi paid homage to BR Ambedkar on his 130th birth anniversary. PM Modi paid his tribute to Ambedkar while addressing the Association of Indian Universities. He also took to twitter saying Ambedkar gave a strong foundation to independent India. VP Venkaiah Naidu paid floral tribute to Ambedkar at his residence in Delhi. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also paid tribute to the Father of Indian Constitution. BSP supremo Mayawati remembered Ambedkar's legacy on his birth anniversary. DMK chief MK Stalin paid a floral tribute to BR Ambedkar at Koyambedu in Chennai. Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was born on 14 April, 1891 in Mhow of Madhya Pradesh. Termed as the father of Indian constitution, he always worked for the welfare of deprived people. Ambedkar was conferred with Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, in 1990.

A gunfight broke out between security forces & Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Bastar on April 3.As many as 23 bodies were found from the site of the gunfight, as per officials. 32 soldiers were injured and 1 was reported missing, confirmed Bijapur police. The gunfight also resulted in the death of a suspected Maoist, officials said Five security personnel lost their lives on April 3, body of two were recovered. Operation to find the missing soldiers was underway, a senior police official said. President Kovind and PM Modi condoled the death of soldiers who lost their lives. Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh attacked West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee over her dharna against EC's campaign ban. Ghosh blamed the Bengal CM for deaths in Cooch Behar during the fourth phase of polling. “She (Mamata) is targeting the Election Commission and giving direction to loot EVMs. Mamata Banerjee is completely responsible for the deaths (in Sitalkuchi). She is not following the decision taken by EC and is sitting on dharna. She, who protests against SC and the Constitution, will never follow law,” said Ghosh. Mamata is sitting on dharna next to a Mahatma Gandhi's statue at Kolkata's Mayo road. EC imposed a 24-hour ban on the TMC supremo from campaigning in any manner. Ban has been imposed over Mamata's remarks against the central forces. Meanwhile, EC also issued a notice to Ghosh for his remarks on the Sitalkuchi incident.

Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi will visit Bangladesh on Mar 26. He'll be on two day visit to the neighbouring country. During his visit, he will be inaugurating Bapu Bangabandhu Digital Video Exhibition in Dhaka. High Commissioner of India in Bangladesh, Vikram Doraiswami said, "It is celebration of 50 years bilateral relationship of India and Bangladesh. Bapu Bangabandhu was the younger contemporary of Mahatma Gandhi. It's been years since any Indian Prime Minister visited Bangladesh. The idea is to showcase the connectedness between our two cultures and histories. This is the first time any Indian dignitary to actually pay personal tribute to Bangabandhu at his Samadhi."
The construction of a water filtration plant at Nowgam village of Shangus Block of Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district is currently underway. The new water filtration plant would be equipped with the latest purification technology and will provide clean drinking water to over 40 thousand people in four villages of Shangus block of Anantnag. According to Muhammad Ayoub, the assistant executive engineer Jal Shakti sub division Anantnag, "The work on this water filtration project will cost Rs 13 crore and 33 lakhs and within next month, the project will be completed and villagers will get clean drinking water." "Two main projects are underway here under two different programs. One filtration plant of one million gallons per day (MGD), SRA of two lakh gallons and allied structures are being built to give clean water to locals. This is a centrally sponsored scheme," he said. Muhammad Amin, a local said, "Last year in December, the work got stalled because of winter. But now we can drink clean water. The work is going on very well and we are thankful to the government for this filter plant. Four villages will get the benefit from this plant." Ghulam Nabi, another local said, "The quality of water was very bad and caused many diseases here. Now, we are getting clean water. The work is underway and now we will get to drink clean water. We thank the government for this plant."
