Kerala becomes 1st state to have 'high-tech classrooms' in govt schools

Kerala became the first state in the country to have high-tech classrooms. The state will have high-tech digital classrooms in all its government schools.

Government Higher Secondary School for Girls Cotton Hill in Kerala's Thiruvanathapuram is fully prepared with digital classrooms. High-tech classroom project was implemented by Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) with financial assistance from Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KIIFB).

MP and MLA funds, local self-government institutions fund were also utilised for setting up the classrooms. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has declared the state public education sector completely digital as Kerala has become the first state in the country to have high-tech classrooms in all its government schools.

After severe criticism, Kerala Police Act amendment put on hold

Kerala government decided to put Kerala Police Act amendment on hold due to severe criticism. In a statement, Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan said that "with the announcement of the amendment, different views arose from different quarters. Concerns were expressed by those who supported LDF and those who stood for protection of democracy. In this situation, it's not intended to amend the law." Speaking on it, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechury said, "Kerala Chief Minister has said that amendments to Kerala State Police Act won't be implemented. The party had proposed (reconsideration) and the state government will now decide on how to go about it. How it will be handled is the business of the government not the party." Kerala Police Act aimed at stop bullying, insulting or disgracing individuals through any content and circulating the same through any communication medium.

Vijayan govt puts Kerala Police Act Amendment on hold: All you need to know

The Pinarayi Vijayan government in Kerala has decided to put on hold the implementation of the controversial amendment to the state Police Act. ‘We are not intending to implement the amended Kerala Police Act. A detailed discussion will be held in the state assembly in this regard and further steps will be taken after hearing views from various quarters,’ the Kerala Chief Minister said in a statement. This comes after protests from the opposition parties who argued that the changes in the Kerala Police Act would amount to an assault on the freedom of speech and the media. The government had introduced a section which stipulated either imprisonment for up to five years or a fine of up to Rs 10,000 or both to those who produce, publish or disseminate content through any means of communication with an intention to intimidate, insult or defame any person through social media.
