Border Security Force (BSF) celebrated its 56th Raising Day on Tuesday, December 1. Organised at Delhi's Chhawla Camp, event was attended by BSF DG Rakesh Asthana. Asthana paid tributes to BSF personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty. A parade by BSF personnel also took place during the event to mark the occasion. MoS Nityanand Rai, who was the chief guest of the event, felicitated the BSF personnel. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and wished all BSF personnel on the occasion. Home Minister Amit Shah also saluted brave personnel of the force for their national service. India's one of the paramilitary forces, BSF was constituted on December 1, 1965.

DG of BSF, Rakesh Asthana said, "I pay my respects to families of all BSF personnel who've lost their lives in the line of duty. The BSF is the sentry to the more than 6,000 km long international border of the country. The BSF constituted with 25 battalions, is 192 battalions strong today. BSF is also working to find technical solutions to counter drone infiltrations on the western border. He further said, "We want to assure the country that our men will always stand to protect the country from the coward infiltration attempts of Pakistan, which we see have risen in the recent past." He then added, "On 20 June 2020, in the Kathua sector in Jammu, the BSF had intercepted a drone with a huge payload of weapons and ammunition."
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Governor Phagu Chauhan visited Patna Sahib Gurudwara on occasion of Guru Gobind Singh's birth anniversary. They offered prayers there on the occasion. Guru Gobind Singh was the 10th Sikh Guru and the day is celebrated to mark his birth anniversary.
On the killing of IndiGo manager in Patna, Bihar DGP SK Singhal said, "An important aspect which has emerged is that there was a conflict over airport parking contract. Prima facie it appears that the incident occurred due to this reason. It's clear that contract killers were hired for it." On evening of January 12, IndiGo station manager Rupesh Kumar Singh was shot dead outside his residence in Patna. The incident brought the law and order situation of Bihar in question once again.
Ahead of 354th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh, preparations are underway at Takhat Sri Harimandir ji Patna Sahib also known as Harimandir Sahib in Bihar. The celebration is also called as Guru Gobind Singh Parkash Utsav or Prakash Parv. The auspicious day of Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti will be celebrated on January 20.
Vice President (VP) M Venkaiah Naidu visited Goa Medical College and met Union Minister of State (MoS) for AYUSH (Independent Charge), Shripad Naik. Naik is undergoing medical treatment following injuries in a road accident. He was admitted at Goa Medical College in Panaji on January 15.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on January 17 met the family of IndiGo airlines station manager Rupesh Singh who was shot dead outside his residence in the city on January 12. Tejashwi met the parents of Rupesh Singh in Chhapra. The RJD leader has continuously criticising Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the law and order situation in wake of the IndiGo station manager's murder, and also asserted that Bihar is becoming the crime capital of the country. Tejashwi today also urged the CM with "folded hands" to control the crime rate in the state.

Speaking to ANI in Srinagar on January 17, GOC of Chinar Corps, Lieutenant General BS Raju said, "Terrorists' recruitment in 2020 was fairly in control, especially when compared to 2018. The present strength of terrorists in the Valley is 217 which is lowest in the last one decade."
Senator Mark Warner spoke on the issue of terrorism during the 18th edition of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit. Terrorists attacked a joint party of Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on December 06. The incident took place at Sazgaripora, Hawal in Srinagar. One Police personnel and a civilian got injured in the attack. The area has been cordoned off.

"There is a need to spread awareness about the vaccine...Both the COVID-19 vaccines were given emergency use approval only after scientists were convinced of their safety. Activists of Dogra Front on January 20 staged protest against the web series 'Tandav' in Jammu and Kashmir's Dogra. 'Tandav', an Amazon Prime Video-based series addressed the backlash against its content that has hurt religious sentiments of many viewers. Muslim people also showed their anguish against the web series by showing placards. The protestors alleged that the creators of the web series have tried to disrupt the communal harmony in the country. Earlier in the day, Maharashtra Government has received a complaint regarding 'Tandav' and will be taking appropriate action against the web series. Earlier on Monday, the cast and crew of the Saif Ali Khan starrer political-drama had extended their apologies to the viewers for "unintentionally" hurting their sentiments. An FIR was also registered at Lucknow's Hazratganj Kotwali against Amazon Prime's India and team of 'tandav' for allegedly hurting religious sentiments on Monday.
