Two teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed in Thoothukudi ahead of cyclone 'Burevi' which is expected to cross south Tamil Nadu between Kanyakumari and Pamban on December 04. 3 NDRF teams are also arrived at Tirunelveli to move towards low-lying areas. Teams of NDRF are also deployed at Kanyakumari, and Alappuzha in Kerala. Cyclone 'Burevi' will cross Sri Lankan coast close to Trincomalee on evening of December 2 and will emerge into Gulf of Mannar on December 03 morning. 'Burevi' will cross south Tamil Nadu between Kanyakumari and Pamban on early morning of December 04.

So our entire focus has been on maritime domain awareness in the Indian Ocean Region. We maintain surveillance with P-8Is, Dornier aircraft and helicopters 24x7. We are getting four more P-8Is,” said AK Jain on the occasion of Navy Day. President Ram Nath Kovind extended his wished on the occasion of Navy Day. Preparations are on in full swing for the 72nd Republic Day celebration on 26th January, 2021. Meanwhile, ITBP's K9 team, which includes dogs like Belgian Malinois, have been given the task to secure Rajpath and India Gate area for the Republic Day parade. All the majestic K9s team dogs which have been deployed have already had a stint in counter-insurgency grid and are battle-hardened. India’s Republic Day celebrations will be muted this year due to the Covid crisis and the social distancing norms that are in place to curb the spread of the outbreak. As the first phase of COVID-19 vaccination drive began on January 16, Indian Navy officers received their first shot in Visakhapatnam. Navy officers cherished the historical moment. A total of 1,91,181 beneficiaries were vaccinated for COVID-19 on day 1 of the massive nationwide vaccination drive.
India's preparedness to deal with all possible challenges in the maritime domain, including contingencies from peace to war-time, was tested in a two-day multi-agency military exercise that covered the 7,516 km-long coastline and exclusive economic zone, officials said on Thursday. The second edition of exercise 'Sea Vigil', which concluded on Wednesday evening, particularly focused on the efficacy of the measures initiated to plug gaps in the coastal security set up following the Mumbai terror attack in 2008, they said. The Indian Navy said the "envisaged objectives" of the exercise were met by the whole-hearted participation of all stakeholders. The exercise involved deployment of the entire coastal security apparatus and more than 110 surface assets of the Indian Navy and the Coast Guard participated in the exercise that was billed as India's largest coastal defence drill, the officials said.

'Bhogi' is celebrated by boycotting the old things for focusing on new beginnings. 'Bhogi' marks the beginning of the four-day Pongal festival. Pongal is a multi-day harvest festival of South India.
Visakhapatnam administration proposes to convert Bangladeshi vessel 'MV Maa' into a floating restaurant after obtaining statutory clearance and clearance from its owner. 'MV Maa', anchored at Vizag Port Trust, drifted into sea in October, when its anchor broke and is at Tenneti Park now. Speaking to ANI, Visakhapatnam District Collector (DC), Sri V Vinay Chand said, "Vessels' fuel was fully offloaded to prevent further sinking. Process of various clearances is going on. State government can take it up as a tourism project." "We are thinking of a floating restaurant. However, we are awaiting all the formal clearances," he added.
