Indian Navy deployed anti-submarine warfare corvettes INS Kamorta, INS Kiltan and others, while Sri Lanka is being represented by offshore patrol vessel Sayura and training ship Gajabahu.
SLINEX series of exercise emphasises the deep engagement between India and Sri Lanka.
The exercise is being conducted in a non-contact 'at-sea-only' format in view of Covid-19 pandemic.

Two teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed in Thoothukudi ahead of cyclone 'Burevi' which is expected to cross south Tamil Nadu between Kanyakumari and Pamban on December 04. 3 NDRF teams are also arrived at Tirunelveli to move towards low-lying areas. Teams of NDRF are also deployed at Kanyakumari, and Alappuzha in Kerala. So our entire focus has been on maritime domain awareness in the Indian Ocean Region. We maintain surveillance with P-8Is, Dornier aircraft and helicopters 24x7. As the first phase of COVID-19 vaccination drive began on January 16, Indian Navy officers received their first shot in Visakhapatnam. Navy officers cherished the historical moment. A total of 1,91,181 beneficiaries were vaccinated for COVID-19 on day 1 of the massive nationwide vaccination drive.
India's preparedness to deal with all possible challenges in the maritime domain, including contingencies from peace to war-time, was tested in a two-day multi-agency military exercise that covered the 7,516 km-long coastline and exclusive economic zone, officials said on Thursday. The second edition of exercise 'Sea Vigil', which concluded on Wednesday evening, particularly focused on the efficacy of the measures initiated to plug gaps in the coastal security set up following the Mumbai terror attack in 2008, they said. The Indian Navy said the "envisaged objectives" of the exercise were met by the whole-hearted participation of all stakeholders. The exercise involved deployment of the entire coastal security apparatus and more than 110 surface assets of the Indian Navy and the Coast Guard participated in the exercise that was billed as India's largest coastal defence drill, the officials said.

Visakhapatnam administration proposes to convert Bangladeshi vessel 'MV Maa' into a floating restaurant after obtaining statutory clearance and clearance from its owner.
