Tripura Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Ratan Lal Nath, gave information on the violence in Kanchanpur area of North Tripura district. He said that at least one person died in the violence and 19 civilians, four police personnel, three jawans of Tripura State Rifles, and eight fire service personnel were injured. Continuing protests were taking place in the Kanchanpur against settlement of Bru refugees from Mizoram, and the demonstrations on November 21 turned violent during which police firing and stone pelting from protestors also took place.
Demonstrators are protesting against the rehabilitation of Bru refugees from Mizoram blocked national highway and set fire to vehicles in Dolubari village of North Tripura district. Police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) troopers resorted to tear gas firing to disperse the agitators after a TSR personnel was attacked.
