BJP leader Smriti Irani launched a scathing attack on Congress and accused it of using farmers and their issues for its benefit.
Comparing the previous Congress government at Centre with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, she said that people have learned that only a 'sevak' can dedicate himself\herself for the development of the nation and those who are willing to become self-reliant will have to walk with PM Modi.
Irani was in Morbi to campaign for BJP candidate Brijesh Merja.
Morbi is one of the eight assembly constituencies in Gujarat, where bypolls will be held on November 3.
Union minister Smriti Irani took on All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi over the issue of 'love jihad', a conspiracy to convert Hindu women as alleged by some Hindutva groups. A day earlier, the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh promulgated an ordinance to nullify marriages solemnised with the primary purpose of converting the bride. It also has provisions to punish 'unlawful' religious conversion. Other BJP-ruled states like Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka are also mulling similar laws. Owaisi had called the law violative of the Constitution and a diversionary tactic by BJP. Irani said all Indians should hail legislation aimed at protecting women and their rights. Addressing a press conference, ahead of local body election in Hyderabad, BJP leader and Union Textile Minister SmritiIrani targeted AIMIM and accused party of enrollingillegal immigrants in Telangana's voter list. She also slammed CM KCR's TRS. "Our soldiers are fighting relentlessly to keep our borders safe. And here in this historical city of Hyderabad, the AIMIM and TRS are working in tandem to give illegal immigrants a place in Telangana's voter's list. Veteran Congress leader's Gogoi's health condition was in 'very critical' state. He had tested positive for COVID in August.
Bhupesh Baghel, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, spoke on the Covid-19 pandemic and Central government's role in the battle. He was speaking at the 18th edition of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit. Baghel said that the state managed to prevent a migrant worker exodus and a blow to industry, but the Union government didn't have much of a role to play. A clash broke out between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and police in Kolkata on November 26 when the party workers were staging protest in Taratala area over delay in construction of Majerhat Bridge. Protestors were also lathi-charged and later detained by police.

PM Modi added that elections taking place every few months impact development works. He also spoke for a common voter list for all polls to prevent waste of resources. The Prime Minister was addressing the concluding session of 80th All India Presiding Officers Conference. 'One Nation, One Election' has been a key electoral reform pushed by the NDA govt. It has, however, met stiff opposition from rival parties.
