JandK government has organised a mesmerising night skiing event in Gulmarg district. Gulmarg is world famous ski and tourist resort in north Kashmir of JandK. It will see around 1200 athletes from different parts of the country participating in the second edition of the five-day long 'Khelo India Winter Games'. This event is advance exercise of 'Khelo India Winter Games' programme that will be started officially on February 26. It will attract skiing lovers from across the world. The event is conducted to promote adventure tourism and aimed at engaging the youth in positive and constructive activities. The games include snowshoe race, ice skating, ice hockey, skiing, nordic skiing, snowboarding, ski mountaineering and ice stock. The government has planned many cultural programs as part of the event besides setting up stalls of ethnic food and local crafts. 'Khelo India Winter Games' is being organised by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs And Sports in collaboration with the JandK Sports Council and the Winter Games Association of JandK. While speaking to media, MoS of Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry, Kiren Rijiju said, "We want to support our young generation for excellence in sports. We couldn't provide facilities in the past. We are bringing Khelo India here as the place is naturally gifted to organise winter games."

Former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and chief of J and K National Conference Farooq Abdullah reacted on India and Pakistan agreeing to stop cross-border firing in Kashmir. Welcoming the decision, he said that it is a big step and both the Prime Ministers will try to solve the issues. India and Pakistan's militaries on February 25 announced that they have agreed to stop firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir and other areas with effect from the midnight of February 24-25.

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and chief of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Farooq Abdullah reacted on continuous surging prices of fuel. He urged Centre to pay attention and immediately take necessary action to bring down the fuel prices.
"1,14,24,094 vaccinations were done across country till 6pm on February 22," informed Union Health Ministry Additional Secretary Manohar Agnani. Manohar Agnani informed that total of 75,40,602 healthcare workers have been vaccinated. Of which, 64,25,060 were inoculated with first dose while 11,15,542 were given second dose. "There are 4 states and UTs which include Lakshadweep, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan which have done more than 75% coverage of healthcare workers and frontline workers in terms of the first dose," he added.
Additional Secretary of Union Health Ministry, Manohar Agnani gave brief about states which have vaccinated over 60% of healthcare workers. He said, "Bihar 76.6%, MP 76.1%, Tripura 76%, U'khand 71.5%, Mizoram 69.7%, UP 69%, Kerala 68.1%, Odisha 67.6%, Rajasthan 67.3%, HP 66.8%, Lakshadweep 64.5%, Andaman 62.9%, Chhattisgarh 60.5%." Among above listed states, Bihar topped in vaccinating healthcare workers.
Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi called on IAS A. Anbarasu, who has moved on to become Advisor to Administrator, Lakshadweep. Anbarasu worked intensively during COVID-19 pandemic time by coordinating the COVID measures besides other duties assigned to him. Amid skyrocketing prices of petrol and diesel in the country, Nagaland became the fifth state to provide relief to consumers. The state government reduced petrol tax from 29.8% to 25%, or Rs 18.26 to Rs 16.04 per litre, whichever is higher. The tax on diesel was reduced from 17.5% to 16.5%, or Rs 11.08 to Rs 10.51 per litre, whichever is higher. Earlier, West Bengal, Assam, Rajasthan, and Meghalaya had announced fuel relief. Amid rising rates of fuel across the country, the Nagaland Government has cut down taxes on petrol and diesel. The finance department on Feb 22 stated that the rate of tax on petrol and diesel has been reduced from 29.80 per cent to 25 per cent per litre. According to the revised tax, petrol price has been reduced to Rs 2.22 per litre and diesel by 57 paise per litre from midnight of February 22. "The fuel price was rising day by day. But as the government has cut down the rate of tax on petrol, the drivers are also thinking to bring down the fare," said a driver in Dimapur. Earlier, the northeast states of Assam and Meghalaya governments had reduced prices of petrol and diesel.
