BJP MLA from Pirpainti, Lallan Kumar Paswan on November 26 handed over transcript of alleged phone call he received from jailed Lalu Yadav, to police. RJD chief allegedly asked him to not to vote in the election for State assembly Speaker's post. "We decided to lodge an FIR against Lalu Prasad under the Prevention of Corruption Act, based on his telephonic conversation with me, where he tried to tempt me and asked me to be absent from Bihar Assembly. This is how these people are playing with democracy," said MLA Paswan.
Bhupesh Baghel, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, spoke on the Covid-19 pandemic and Central government's role in the battle. He was speaking at the 18th edition of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit. Baghel said that the state managed to prevent a migrant worker exodus and a blow to industry, but the Union government didn't have much of a role to play. Reacting to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's praise of the Modi administration, Baghel said that the Aam Aadmi Party government in the capital was also responsible for the spread of the pandemic across the country, and so the AAP and BJP were scratching each other's backs. Police used water cannon and lathi-charge to disperse BJP workers during 'Nabanna Chalo' protest at Hastings in Kolkata on October 08. The similar incident was witnessed at Howrah. BJP leader Locket Chatterjee said, "Police is lathi charging our people...Stone-pelting being done from Khidirpur side. Can't the police see that?" BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya said, "This is Mamata Banerjee's dictatorship. We were doing protest democratically but they turned this into violent." BJP began state-wide 'Nabanna Chalo' agitation march today to protest against the alleged killing of its party workers.
Briefing about the plans to ensure implementation of ban on crackers to control pollution in Delhi, Police Commissioner, SN Shrivastava informed that teams have been formed in every Police district. "In view of pollution, use/sale of crackers is banned (in Delhi). Strict laws in place, strict action will be taken against anyone found bursting/selling crackers. Team formed in every Police district, they inspect their respective areas," said Commissioner SN Shrivastava.
A man from Hardoi climbed atop a water tank along with his family in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj. Family demanded action from Hardoi administration against local goons, who allegedly attempted to grab their property and encroached upon their house. They threatened to commit suicide if their demands are not fulfilled. One of the villagers said, "Police is taking care of them, they are being provided food."
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut reacted on Republic TV's editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami's arrest in a 2018 suicide case of interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother. He said that before protesting for Goswami, BJP's cabinet ministers and its leaders in Maharashtra should meet Naik's family and understand the pain from which they went through in past two years. Raut backed Maharashtra Police by asserting Police is independent for the investigation and he assured that there will be no injustice to anyone. Recently, Anvay Naik's wife and daughter thanked Maharashtra Police for the action in the case and hoped for justice. Naik killed himself in 2018 and named Arnab Goswami and two others in his suicide note.
The members of Left trade union blocked railway track at Belgharia station in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district. They are protesting against Centre's new labour and farm laws on November 26. A demonstration was also held in Kolkata during a nationwide strike today. On the other side, Members of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, CPI(M) and Congress blocked railway track in Jadavpur as trade unions observed nationwide strike against new labour policies introduced by the Centre.
BJP workers clashed with police in Howrah district of West Bengal on Thursday over the death of a party worker. BJP workers were seen trying to scale the closed gates of the police station leading to a scuffle with the force personnel on duty. The BJP had called a 12-hour bandh in Bagnan assembly constituency area against the killing of its worker Kinkar Majhi, who succumbed to his bullet injuries on Wednesday. They were denied permission to hold a rally which led to the scuffle with the police. Trouble began when BJP Yuva Morcha state president and Bishnupur MP Saumitra Khan went inside the Bagnan police station to talk to senior officers after the saffron party was denied permission to take out the rally.
