Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on December 05 took a fresh jibe at Amit Shah and said that Congress MLAs were ashamed of seeing him as Union Home Minister. He also blamed BJP for allegedly trying to topple the state government. "They (BJP) tried to make the government fall in Rajasthan. After meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel, Dharmendra Pradhan our MLAs told me that they were ashamed to see Amit Shah as Home Minister. There was a time when Sardar Patel was Home Minister and now it's him. They (BJP) were giving assurance that they have made five different governments fall and this will be the sixth one. BJP has been conspiring like this," said Gehlot.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 'New Bhaupur-New Khurja section' of Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) on December 29. Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal were present at the inaugural function. This section of Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) has been built by TATA Projects Limited. The 351 km New Bhaupur- New Khurja section of EDFC is situated in Uttar Pradesh.
My government is focused on starting new projects as well as arranging funds for it, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi after inaugurating the construction work of Agra Metro Project on December 07. He said, "A big problem with infrastructure development in the country was that projects were announced but not much attention was paid on arrangement of funds. AAP MLA Somnath Bharti was arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli on Monday. He was arrested for allegedly making derogatory remarks against CM Yogi Adityanath. This came shortly after a man threw ink at the AAP leader as he was leaving a guest house. The events were slammed by AAP, which alleged that Bharti was first attacked and then framed. Bharti had reached Rae Bareli on Sunday night to inspect its state-run primary schools. He was stopped by the police when he was leaving the guest house on Monday morning. The MLA from Delhi's Malviya Nagar has been sent to 14-day judicial custody by a court in Sultanpur.

The third phase of COVID-19 vaccine dry run began in Uttar Pradesh on Janaury 11. The beneficiaries reached to health centres in Lucknow. The objective of dry run is to gear up the country for roll-out of COVID-19 vaccine. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited a health care centre to review the dry run. Additional Chief Secretary (Health) of UP, Amit Mohan Prasad said, "The dry run is happening at wide level in the state. We are covering 1500 centres and are running 3000 sessions today. The dry run is happening so that everyone be it health care workers or police officials get aware of their role in the vaccination drive." Beneficiaries also reached to health centres in Varanasi to participate in dry run drive. The COVID-19 vaccination drive will start from Jan 16 in the country.
A 11-foot long python weighing around 25 kg was rescued by the Forest Department with the help of JCB in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh on January 15. Scores of people witnessed the rescue operation. The python was later released into the wilderness.
A massive fire broke out at cloth showroom in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha on Jan 15. Locals are on a war footing to douse the flames. No injuries have been reported yet. Reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained. More details are awaited.

As the farmers’ protest against the Centre’s farm laws entered day 20, top ministers from the Modi government continue to claim that the farmers are being misled. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that pictures of a man who was arrested from Naxal affected Gadchiroli, people who gave ‘anti-India’ speeches in Delhi were also seen during the protests. Gadkari said that these people have nothing to do with the farmers, yet their posters are seen. Meanwhile, MoS Home Affairs, G Kishan Reddy questioned why protests over the issue were being held in countries like US, Canada and the UK. The cold waves continued to prevail North India. Kanpur was covered with thick layer of fog and the visibility was extremely low. In Punjab's Amritsar, icy winds hit normal lives. Locals were seen using bonfire to keep themselves warm in the harsh winters. Similar situation was witnessed in Noida as cold waves gripped the city. According to IMD, zero visibility was reported over Delhi, Lucknow and Amritsar due to variable and calm lower-level winds today. Similar fog conditions are likely in the morning of Jan 17 as well and visibility is likely to improve from Jan 18.
Dense fog enveloped Patna city of Bihar on January 15. It led to low visibility at various locations. Speaking to ANI, a local said, "From last 3-4 days, the cold wave has gripped the city causing problems in carrying out day-to-day activities." Similar situation of fog was observed in UP's Lucknow today. Thick blanket of fog also engulfed Punjab's Ludhiana. Locals were seen keeping themselves warm near the bonfire amid chilly winter season.

Three people including a Chinese national were arrested in connection with instant loan apps fraud case in Telangana, informed Rachakonda Commissioner of Police, Mahesh Bhagwat on January 13. "One Chinese national, an Indian citizen and one other arrested, in connection with online instant loan apps fraud case. Bank accounts with Rs 30 crore frozen, 105 mobile phones, laptops recovered," said CP Bhagwat.
A consignment of COVID-19 vaccine, Covishield arrived at Jammu airport from Serum Institute of India, Pune on January 13. Covishield vaccines were shifted to the storage rooms. Kanpur also received its Covisheild consignment today. Soon after arriving at the Kanpur airport, vaccines were shifted to city's storage centres. SII had dispatched vaccines across India on January 12. So far several states including Karnataka, New Delhi, Telangana, Bihar and Tamil Nadu have received the Covisheild vaccine.
