Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on January 17 met the family of IndiGo airlines station manager Rupesh Singh who was shot dead outside his residence in the city on January 12. Tejashwi met the parents of Rupesh Singh in Chhapra. The RJD leader has continuously criticising Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the law and order situation in wake of the IndiGo station manager's murder, and also asserted that Bihar is becoming the crime capital of the country. Tejashwi today also urged the CM with "folded hands" to control the crime rate in the state.

He added, "Requesting Nitish Kumar with folded hands...We know that you're weak CM but for the sake of your position, please don't let human lives be sacrificed. It is your (Bihar CM) responsibility to control crime in the state: RJD's Tejashwi Yadav on law and order situation in Bihar."
RJD's Tejashwi Yadav on January 16 targeted Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over IndiGo manager's murder in Patna. He also said the state is becoming the crime capital of India. "Bihar is becoming the crime capital of the country, the number of incidents of crime is increasing here. It was ridiculous to see the CM yesterday, Nitish Kumar seemed helpless, very weak and a tired CM," said Tejashwi Yadav. He added, "When Rupesh Singh (IndiGo manager) was murdered, CM released a press release that culprits be arrested. Who is he making an appeal to? He has been CM for 16 consecutive years and also has Home Department in his portfolio. Who is he making an appeal to? Opposition?"

Dense fog enveloped Aligarh city of Uttar Pradesh on January 18. It led to low visibility at various locations. Similar situation of fog was observed in Bihar's Muzaffarpur today. A thick blanket of dense fog also engulfed Punjab's Ludhiana. Locals were seen keeping themselves warm near the bonfire amid chilly winter season. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 8 degrees celsius, as per India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Former Indian cricketer and BJP MP from East Delhi, Gautam Gambhir, on January 19 lauded the performance of Indian Cricket Team. He said, "This is the greatest series ever to be won by the Indian cricket team ever, I don't think so it has been any bigger than this," he said. Gambhir hailed the performance of young players who proved their mettle in the absence of key players who were injured.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on December 19, reached RIMS Hospital in Ranchi to meet his father and party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav. He said that Lalu Yadav's kidney is functioning at 25 per cent. Yadav also lambasted at Nitish Kumar by saying that there is no law and order in the state and Kumar is tired now. Lalu Prasad Yadav has been in jail since December 23, 2017 after his conviction in the fodder scam cases. After health complications, Lalu was shifted to RIMS and then to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. Yadav was referred back to RIMS after AIIMS doctors declared him fit in 2018.
Jharkhand High Court deferred hearing of bail plea of RJD Chief Lalu Yadav in fodder scam case related to Dumka Treasury. The High Court will resume its hearing on December 11. Speaking on this, Lalu's lawyer Prabhat Kumar said, "The next date of the bail plea hearing is December 11. We have been instructed to bring records related to Lalu Prasad Ji's half-sentence from the lower court and get it verified before further arguments."
While addressing the press conference in Patna on January 10, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav spoke on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's statement over National Democratic Alliance (NDA) alliance for Bihar polls. Yadav said, "It is tit for tat. If you look at Nitish Kumar ji's history, be it George Fernandes, Digvijaya Singh or our party- whom did he not betray?. He came to power through back door, he has thirst for power." "The destruction of Bihar by him is for everyone to see. Nitish Kumar is a bargainer, a blackmailer. He is not a leader. He is not for people, he is for himself," Yadav added.
Congress leader Digvijaya Singh said that India shouldn't be made an experiment lab. Singh said that people of India should not be made guinea pigs for vaccine trials. "Protocols can still be compromised during the pandemic. People of India should not be made guinea pigs. Haryana minister Anil Vij got vaccinated and later tested positive. Before human trials, animal trials are done to launch a vaccine. India cannot be an experiment lab for any vaccine," he said. Bharat Biotech, SII, and Pfizer recently asked for emergency use approval in India. At least eight different vaccine candidates are at different trial stages in India. PM Modi had recently held meeting and visited vaccine labs in the country. He had discussed Covid vaccination plan during an all-party meeting held earlier.

JDU leader KC Tyagi lashed out at the BJP over the defection of 6 JDU MLAs to the BJP in Arunachal Pradesh. ‘We express anguish over six JD (U) MLAs from Arunachal Pradesh joining BJP. BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on December 28 said that CM Nitish Kumar agreed to become Chief Minister of Bihar on request of Janata Dal (United), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) leaders. He said, "Nitish Kumar didn't want to be the Chief Minister (of Bihar). BJP and JDU leaders told him that we fought the poll on his name and vision and said that people had voted for him. In the end, he accepted to become the Chief Minister on request of JDU, BJP and VIP leaders."
