Wazirpur and North Campus recorded 'Satisfactory' category.
The dip in air pollution levels is due to evening showers on November 15th, followed by increased wind speed.
According to National Air Quality Index, an air quality index (AQI) between 0-50 is marked good, 51-100 is satisfactory, 101- 200 is moderate, 201- 300 is poor, 301-400 is very poor and 401-500 is considered severe.
154 monks have been tested COVID-19 positive in Gyuto Tantric Monastery in Himachal Pradesh's Sidhbari. A total of 330 monks have been tested so far. The monastery has been declared as 'containment zone'. Kangra CMO Dr GD Gupta said, "Following initial cases on Feb 23rd, 330 monks tested so far for COVID-19 and 154 of them tested positive at Gyuto Tantric Monastery, Sidhbari. One monk in critical condition shifted to Tanda Medical College, others in isolation in the monastery itself. Monks who have been home-isolated, had travelled from Karnataka and Delhi during new year celebrations."
As per the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), Delhi's air quality turned 'very poor' with overall air quality index (AQI) standing at 301. The temperature has dipped further in Delhi-NCR. A low level visibility was witnessed in several parts of the national capital on January 13. A thick layer of fog blankets the city today. Cold waves have tightened its grip in Delhi and adjoining cities. Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 4.8 degree Celsius today.
For the second day in a row, a thick layer of smog enveloped the Nepal capital Kathmandu. Visibility in the valley went down dramatically in the last two days with the Air Quality Index shown by the US Embassy in the capital remaining over 300 which means "Hazardous". As a sudden drop in mercury settled down atmospheric pollutants, the Department of Environment requested people not to come out without genuine reasons. The department also stated that the air quality in other major cities like Nepalgunj and Biratnagar will be deteriorating and people should be cautious. The PM 2.5 levels of more than 150mg/m3 are considered extremely dangerous for human health, and people are recommended to stay indoors. According to IQ Air, a Swiss air quality technology company, overall air quality index of the Valley today stood at 437mg/m3 - the worst in the world. In order to address the problem, the government earlier had introduced a provision that allows authorities concerned to declare an air pollution emergency whenever the air quality index goes over 300 (mg/m3). However, none of the concerned authorities has sent out a signal in this regard as the nation is reeling through the COVID-19 pandemic where pollution might worsen complexities among infected ones. AQI is a composite measurement of the concentration of particulate matter below 10 and 2.5 microns, carbon monoxide, sulphur and nitrogen dioxide and ground ozone. Reeling above the mark of 300, Kathmandu is expected to get rid of smog only after heavy rainfall.
