Indian Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh on December 03 confirmed the presence of three Chinese warships in the Indian Ocean region since 2008 for anti-piracy patrols. "We have an SOP to tackle the situation if there is an infringement (by Chinese research vessels). The Navy's activities are in close coordination and synergy with the Indian Army and Indian Air Force." He further said, "We have deployed the P-8I aircraft at various locations on the requirement of Army and Indian Air Force. In addition, we have deployed the Heron surveillance drones on the northern borders. As of now, three Chinese warships are in the Indian Ocean region. The Chinese have been maintaining three ships since 2008 for anti-piracy patrols."
The second phase of the Malabar exercise on November 20 saw a high tempo of fighter flying operations from the decks of the two participating aircraft carriers, Indian Navy’s aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya and the American aircraft carrier USS Nimitz. MiG 29K's of the Indian Navy and the F-18 of the US Navy flew along with the IN's maritime patrol aircraft P-8I and the USN AEW aircraft E2C Hawkeye in seamless coordination. The Australian Navy is taking part with its warship HMAS Ballarat and Japan with destroyer JS Murasame. The second phase of the Malabar exercise will be conducted in the Northern Arabian Sea till November 20. Watch the full video for more.

India's preparedness to deal with all possible challenges in the maritime domain, including contingencies from peace to war-time, was tested in a two-day multi-agency military exercise that covered the 7,516 km-long coastline and exclusive economic zone, officials said on Thursday. The second edition of exercise 'Sea Vigil', which concluded on Wednesday evening, particularly focused on the efficacy of the measures initiated to plug gaps in the coastal security set up following the Mumbai terror attack in 2008, they said. The Indian Navy said the "envisaged objectives" of the exercise were met by the whole-hearted participation of all stakeholders. The exercise involved deployment of the entire coastal security apparatus and more than 110 surface assets of the Indian Navy and the Coast Guard participated in the exercise that was billed as India's largest coastal defence drill, the officials said.

While addressing at the event in the national capital on the occasion of 'Veterans' Day', Chief of the Naval Staff in Indian Navy, Admiral Karambir Singh said, "It is a matter of great pride and honour for me to get an opportunity to speak to our veterans on the occasion of Armed Forces Veterans' Day and at the very outset I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all veterans for their service to the nation." "All of us who are in uniform and service today gratefully acknowledge that the multidimensional and credible force that we are today is due to the vision, perseverance and fortitude of our veterans," Indian Navy Chief added.
The 'Exercise Sea Vigil', the 2-day coastal defence exercise was conducted on 12th-13th Jan. It involved deployment of entire coastal security apparatus. Over 110 surface assets of Indian Navy Coast Guard participated in the exercise. Large number of Marine Police and Customs assets was also deployed in the drill.
