Three days after Rupesh Kumar Singh, a manager with IndiGo airlines, was shot dead by unidentified bike-borne men in the Punaichak area of Patna, his family said the probe should be transferred from Bihar police to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Nandeshwar Singh, brother of the deceased said that despite Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's assurance of arresting the culprits within 48 hours, there have been no arrests.
On murder of an IndiGo manager in Patna and crime in the state, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said, "I spoke with DGP, a special team has been formed. Don't demoralise police, if someone doesn't carry out their duty, action is taken. What used to happen before 2005? There was a lot of crime. Is it the same today?" He further said, "Bihar ranks at 23 in the country as far as incidents of crime are concerned. Law is in place. Police are finding out more information. A speedy trial will be done, so that stringent action is taken against the culprit on time. I have been assured by the DGP." On evening of Jan 12, IndiGo manager Rupesh Kumar Singh was murdered in Patna. The incident brought the law and order situation of Bihar in question once again.
While addressing the press conference in Patna on January 10, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav spoke on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's statement over National Democratic Alliance (NDA) alliance for Bihar polls. Yadav said, "It is tit for tat. If you look at Nitish Kumar ji's history, be it George Fernandes, Digvijaya Singh or our party- whom did he not betray?.
