Watch: IAF chief Bhadauria takes sortie in indigenous Light Combat Helicopter

IAF Chief RKS Bhadauria undertook his maiden flight in indigenous Light Combat Helicopter.

The sortie in HAL designed and developed LCH took place in Bengaluru.

The aircraft took to the skies at 11.45 hours and remained airborne for an hour.

The IAF chief was accompanied by HALs Deputy Chief Test Pilot, Wg Cdr (Retd) S P John.

The LCH is planned to be inducted into Indian defence forces in the near future.

Earlier, Bhadauria undertook a sortie in the newly inducted Apache attack helicopter.

The Air Chief Marshal was on a two-day visit to airbases under Western Air Command.

During his visit, Bhadauria also reviewed operational preparedness of the fighter squadrons.

The IAF chief also interacted with the air warriors serving at these bases.

Asserting that the made in India light combat aircraft Tejas is far better and advanced than the Chinese-Pakistani JF-17 fighter jets, Air Force chief RKS Bhadauria on Thursday said the latest Indian jet would be better equipped to carry out Balakot-type airstrikes. the Air Chief said the 83 indigenous fighter jets to be inducted into the force would also be equipped with homegrown weapons such as the Astra beyond visual range air to air missiles and other standoff weapons. "Indian aircraft Tejas is far better and advanced than the Chinese and Pakistan joint venture JF-17 fighter," Bhadauria said when asked to compare the Indian fighter with the JF-17. Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria on being asked if Tejas aircraft would able to carry out Balakot type airstrike if required in future said that it will have the capability of a standoff weapon which will be even beyond the capability we used that time. "The most potent BVR weapon that we have today is getting developed, and there will be other lot of air weapons which are currently on, some of the weapons are from our current inventory. Equity benchmark indices wiped out early losses on Thursday and closed in the positive terrain led by gains in pharma counters. The BSE SandP Sensex closed 92 points or 0.19 per cent higher at 49,584 while the Nifty 50 ticked up by 31 points or 0.21 per cent to 14,596. Sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were mixed with Nifty pharma gaining by 0.8 per cent, FMCG by 0.7 per cent and auto by 0.3 per cent. Among stocks, Hindustan Aeronautics surged by 9.5 per cent after the government approved procurement of 83 indigenously developed light combat aircraft Tejas for Indian Air Force at a cost of Rs 48,000 crore. The others which gained marginally included IndianOil Corporation, GAIL, ITC, Britannia and Tata Motors. However, HCL Technologies dropped by 2.3 per cent to Rs 1,031 per share as traders booked profits. Tech Mahindra and Wipro slipped by 1.3 per cent each while Infosys lost by 1.2 per cent. Meanwhile, Japanese stocks jumped to a three-decade high and other Asian equities were near record peaks as investors focused on US stimulus prospects and extended bets on global recovery and growth.
