UP Police reached Mumbai to conduct a probe into the case lodged against web series 'Tandav'. The four-member team arrived at the residence of 'Tandav' director Ali Abbas Zafar. Issuing notice, UP Police asked Zafar to be present before the Investigation Officer on January 27. 'Tandav' landed in controversy for allegedly 'hurting religious sentiments'. At least three FIRs have been lodged against the makers and artists of 'Tandav'. The FIRs have been registered in UP's Lucknow, Greater Noida and Shahjahanpur. 'Tandav', a nine-episode political thriller, started streaming on Amazon Prime last week. The web series stars Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub among others.

Devotees performed rituals in West Bengal's Kolkata on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti. They took holy dip in Hoogly River on January 14. On the other side, devotees also took holy dip in Ganga River on the occasion of Makar Sankranti today. People came in large numbers to perform the rituals in UP's Varanasi.
Despite of freezing temperature, devotees took holy dip in river Ganga. Dense fog had covered the area leading to minimum visibility but nothing could stop these devotees from offering their prayers. One of the devotees said, "I come here daily to take dip in river Ganga and no matter how cold the weather is, we come regularly."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with beneficiaries and vaccinators of COVID-19 vaccination drive in Varanasi, via video conferencing. PM Modi said, "The biggest vaccination program in the world is going on in our country. Today, the nation has willpower to manufacture its own vaccine- not one but two Made in India vaccines. Vaccines are reaching every corner of the country. India is absolutely self-reliant in this regard."
A dense layer of fog enveloped Kanpur city of Uttar Pradesh on January 17. It led to very low visibility at various locations. Locals were seen keeping themselves warm near the bonfire amid chilly winter season. Similar situation of fog was observed in UP's Aligarh today. Locals and commuters are facing several problems amid the winter season. The locals in Varanasi also resorted to bonfire to keep themselves warm amid chilly winters.
On the killing of IndiGo manager in Patna, Bihar DGP SK Singhal said, "An important aspect which has emerged is that there was a conflict over airport parking contract. Prima facie it appears that the incident occurred due to this reason. It's clear that contract killers were hired for it." On evening of January 12, IndiGo station manager Rupesh Kumar Singh was shot dead outside his residence in Patna. The incident brought the law and order situation of Bihar in question once again.
RJD's Tejashwi Yadav urged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with "folded hands" to control crime rate in the state of Bihar. "Going to meet family of Rupesh Singh (IndiGo manager murdered in Patna). No arrests made yet. DGP says crime rate was higher in 2019, has come down now but for 16 yrs, Nitish Kumar has been CM. If police behave like this, one can understand ground reality," said Tejashwi Yadav. He added, "Requesting Nitish Kumar with folded hands...We know that you're weak CM but for the sake of your position, please don't let human lives be sacrificed. It is your (Bihar CM) responsibility to control crime in the state: RJD's Tejashwi Yadav on law and order situation in Bihar."
Former Bihar Deputy chief minister and RJD leader Tejashwi yadav, Rabri Devi visited Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi on January 22. They visited RIMS following sudden health deterioration of Lalu Yadav. Lalu Yadav diagnosed with lung infection. He has been tested negative for COVID-19.
Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar on January 21 visited Serum Institute of India (SII), in Pune, where massive fire claimed five lives. After visiting the institute, he said, "Contractor's men were working on that floor (where the fire broke out) and when the fire brigade officials went there, they found five completely burnt bodies. 2 of them were from UP, 2 from Pune and 1 is from Bihar." "Fire brigade has done good work. As per my info, CM will also visit the site tomorrow. The place where COVID vaccine is manufactured was not affected. I was informed that preparation was going on at this building (site of fire) to make Rotavirus vaccine," he added. Fire had broken out at Manjri Plant of SII today afternoon and claimed five lives.

Canadian PM Justin Trudeau also issued a statement on Nanak's birth anniversary. Trudeau said Guru Nanak Dev's birth anniversary was an important day for Sikh Canadians. Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated with fervour throughout nation and around the world. Also known as Gurpurab, Nanak Jayanti celebrates the birth of the first Sikh Guru. Nanak Jayanti is observed on the full moon day of Kartik month as per the Hindu calendar.

A team of Uttar Pradesh Police arrived at the Mumbai residence of web-series 'Tandav' director Ali Abbas Zafar on January 21. They issued him a notice regarding the controversy on the web-series and summoned him to be present in front of the Investigation Officer on January 27 in Lucknow. 'Tandav' landed in controversy for allegedly "hurting Hindu religious sentiments". In wake of the troubling developments, Ali Abbas Zafar tweeted an apology note on January 18 and later also agreed to make 'desired' changes in the content.
