At least 11 people have died after consuming suspected spurious liquor in Madhya Pradesh's Morena. Police said eight others have fallen ill and were referred to Gwalior for treatment. As per the preliminary reports, some villagers consumed a white-colored liquor. Police added that the autopsy reports will ascertain if the liquor was poisonous or not. State Home Minister Narottam Mishra said a police official has been suspended following the incident. "The incident of deaths caused by drinking poisonous liquor in morena is very sad. The in-charge of the police station concerned has been suspended. A separate team is also being sent to conduct the investigation. People who are responsible for the incident will not be spared," Mishra said.

Congress lashed out at the BJP over the Hindu Mahasabha inaugurating a study centre dedicated to Mahatama Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse. The former Madhya Pradesh CM called on the BJP and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to clarify whether they backed the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi's killer. At least eight people lost their lives and four were severely injured in a road accident in Rajasthan's Tonk area on the night of January 26. Injured were rushed to the nearby hospital. Further details are awaited. The deceased hailed from Madhya Pradesh and met with the accident while returning after offering prayers at Khatushyam.
A 14-year-old minor girl was allegedly raped by a man who met her through social media in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal. Speaking to ANI, ASP of Bhopal, Rajesh Singh Bhadoria said, "We have arrested the accused. Further investigation is underway."
