Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison reshuffled his Cabinet on Monday as he sought to repair his standing following a series of damaging allegations about the mistreatment of female lawmakers and staff. Libby Hogan reports.
Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that his Cabinet colleagues had decided to pay for Covid-19 vaccine. The announcement came on the day that India expanded the inoculation drive to include those aged above 60 years, and those aged 45+ with comorbidities. At least 10 people were killed and several injured after truck fell into a gorge in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah. a DCM truck was headed from Pinahat of Bah tehsil with passengers who were going to hoist the flag at Lakhna temple. The accident took place on Udi-Chakar Nagar Road on Saturday. “Several people, in a DCM, were going to Lakhna. The truck lost balance and fell into a gorge. Some people were below the truck too. The rest have been rescued and are currently under treatment,” said BK Singh, SSP Etawah. Watch the full video for more.

At least 10 people died after a bus filled with devotees fell into a gorge in Etawah of Uttar Pradesh on April 10. The bus was going from Pinahat in Agra to Lakhna temple in Etawah. The injured people have been shifted to a district hospital. Over 50 people were on board the bus. Further details are awaited.
Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad informed that the state has reported 12,787 fresh COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours. The total number of active infections in the state stands at 58,801. He said that 6,08,853 people have been recovered from the dreadful infection. 9,085 people have lost their lives in the state till date.
Under the government's vehicle scrapping policy, about 5 per cent rebate on new cars would be offered to buyers on scrapping of old vehicles, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari told Parliament on Thursday and termed it a "win-win" policy that will help improve fuel efficiency and reduce pollution. "The vehicle manufacturers are advised to provide a discount of 5 per cent on purchase of new vehicle against the scrapping certificate," Union Road Transport, Highways and MSMEs Minister Gadkari said. "The scheme shall provide strong incentives to owners of old vehicles to scrap old and unfit vehicles through registered scrapping centres, which shall provide the owners with a scrapping certificate," he said. Listing the incentives, Gadkari said, "Scrap value for the old vehicle given by the scrapping centre will be approximately 4-6 per cent of the ex-showroom price of a new vehicle". Union Minister for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) Nitin Gadkari said the government is currently developing ethanol economy and its present size is 20,000 crore. He added that the petroleum minister assured him of giving permission for ethanol petrol pumps. Gadkari also said that people would be able to save more given that ethanol’s rate is 60-62 per litre. Speaking at the event of KPIT Sparkle 2021, Gadkari also asserted that the priority of the government is to take village industry turnover to Rs 5 lakh crore within five years. “Our village industry turnover is Rs 88,000 crore, my highest priority is to take it to Rs 5 lakh crore within five years.
