"Uddhav Thackeray has lost his sleep after UP CM's visit to Mumbai. They have used offensive language using Saamna editorial, which we condemn. This may be their party culture. We were welcomed open-heartedly by Bollywood people," Nath told ANI.

Madhya Pradesh Cabinet on December 26 approved 'MP Freedom of Religion Bill 2020' in a special meeting chaired by CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, informed state Home Minister, Narottam Mishra, explaining that a minimum fine of Rs 25,000 and up to five years of imprisonment will be given for 'forced conversions'. "Under new Bill, forcing religious conversion on someone will attract 1-5 years of imprisonment and a minimum Rs 25,000 fine. Forced conversion of a minor, woman or a person from Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe, would draw a minimum jail term of 2-10 years with a minimum penalty of Rs 50,000," Mishra told reporters in Bhopal after the cabinet meeting.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi released financial assistance of around Rs 2691 crore to 6.1 lakh beneficiaries in Uttar Pradesh, under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) via video conferencing. "In the past few years, around 2 crore houses have been built in rural areas alone. Under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana, keys of 1.25 crore houses have been handed over to people. Around Rs 1.50 Lakh Crores has been given by Central Govt alone, to build these houses," said PM Narendra Modi.
Three gunmen and a soldier were injured during an encounter between police and miscreants in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh. All the injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital. Encounter took place near Ramlila Maidan in Nagarkotwali area in midnight of January 20. The miscreants were involved in a jewellery robbery worth Rs. 90 lakhs. Police has also recovered 3 bikes from them.
Indian Army has organised a four-day recruitment drive for women in Uttar Pradesh. The recruitment drive has been organised at AMC stadium in Lucknow Cantonment. The Army is conducting tests to recruit eligible candidates in military police. Around 8,000 women have registered themselves for the recruitment drive. The four-day recruitment drive for women will conclude on January 21. Major General NS Rajpurohit, ADG (Recruitment), Indian Army said "We will be covering 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh and 15 in Uttarakhand. We are happy to see that a lot of women have participated with enthusiasm in this drive. This is the second phase of the recruitment process, they are here for physical tests. Around 8,000 candidates have registered themselves for the recruitment process.

The first centre for gold assaying and hallmarking, Kashmir Hallmarking Centre was set up in the Kashmir Valley on January 10. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), a national standards body of India, has recognised the KHC. The centre is intended for certifying gold and verifying its purity. First of its kind in Kashmir and fourth in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, has been funded under the Seed Capital Fund Scheme of the Jammu and Kashmir Government. The centre has been sponsored by the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI). Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) of Jammu and Kashmir have recognised the centre for hallmarking. The centre will provide relief to both goldsmiths and customers. The customers will be able to buy original government-regulated gold from goldsmiths while the sale of the latter will increase. The purity of the precious metals will be properly ascertained and defaulting parties can then be penalised. The centre will also cater to the demands of the market. Hallmarking is a way by which the logo of the goldsmith is included on the product, helping to identify the source from where it was bought.
Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Nitin Gadkari lashed out at the Cement and Steel industry and said they are exploiting the present situation real estate market. “There is a cartel in the cement and steel industry. Every steel company has its own iron ore mines and there has been no increase in labour and power costs but they are increasing rates,” he said. “Cement factories are exploiting the situation. It's not in national interests. We are planning to implement infrastructure projects worth Rs 111 lakh crores in the next 5 years. If rates of steel and cement continue like this, it'll be very difficult for us," said Gadkari while interacting with Builders' Association of India, Western Region via video conferencing. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari spoke at the 18th edition of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2020 on infrastructure projects, the current state of MSMEs, the Covid challenge and the way ahead for the country. Gadkari said that while initially there was some hiccup, at present there is no impact of Covid on construction activities across the country.
