With an aim to strengthen and to connect with the next generation of Kashmir, Indian Army organised 'A Day with Company Commander' in Baramulla. During the event, children of the surrounding areas got an opportunity to visit the Army Camp and experience the life of army personnel. Games were also organised for children for their entertainment. The children wholeheartedly participated in all the events with great enthusiasm and vigour. Children enjoyed the event and expressed gratitude to Army for conducting such an event. The aim of this outreach program is to make relationship with people and children of Kashmir valley. The event was organised by 52 Rashtriya Rifles (RR). Indian Army frequently organises such events to stop youths to indulge in anti-social activities and to motivate them to join Army. Free medicines were also distributed during the event.

A batch of foreign envoys arrived in Srinagar on February 17 for a two-day visit to the Union Territory of JandK with aim to assess the on-ground situation. Srinagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Junaid Mattu said that the visiting dignitaries were apprised of the landmark elections of DDC and urban local bodies. Terrorists attacked a police party in Baghat Barzulla area of district Srinagar on Feb 19. In this terror incident, 2 policemen got injured. They have been shifted to a hospital for treatment. Wreath laying ceremony of JandK Police Special Police Officer (SPO) Mohammad Altaf, who lost his life in Budgam encounter on February 19, was held in Srinagar today. SPO Mohammad Altaf lost his life while SgCt Manzoor Ahmad got injured in the ongoing operation. The encounter was started at Beerwah area of Budgam.
Three terrorists and a policeman were killed in two separate encounters in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam and Shopian. In Shopian district, officials informed that three militants were killed by security forces. Kashmir Zone Police said arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site. In another encounter in J&K’s Budgam, a policeman lost his life in the gunbattle. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Zanigam village in Budgam. The search operation was launched following information about the presence of militants in the area. Search operation turned into encounter after militants opened fire at security forces.
