Farmers are protesting at Delhi borders against the Centre's three farm laws.
They rejected conditional talks with the government but are ready for unconditional talks.
Earlier in the day, farmers alleged that the Centre has invited only 32 groups of farmers for talks but there are over 500 groups.

"Our Prime Minister has decided to expand National Cadet Corps (NCC). There should be training of Cadets at the border and coastal areas. We have identified more than 1,100 schools to begin NCC training," Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. He added, "Earlier, there were 28% girl cadets in NCC. Now, it has increased to approximately 43%. This is India's women empowerment. Government has also decided to give preference to the NCC cadets in employment."

The tenth round of talks between farmer unions and the Centre over the three farm laws began at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi on January 20. Union Ministers Narendra Singh Tomar and Piyush Goyal attended the meeting. They held several rounds of talks which remained inconclusive. Farmers are agitating against the new farm laws over past months. They are adamant to repeal the farm laws and provide legal assistance on MSP.
At the eighth round of negotiations with the 41-member representative group of protesting farmers, the government asserted the farm reform laws have been welcomed by a large section of farmers in various states and asked the unions to think about the interests of the entire country. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Railways, Commerce and Food Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce Som Parkash, who is an MP from Punjab, are holding talks with unions at Vigyan Bhawan in the heart of the national capital, while thousands of farmers have stayed put at various Delhi borders to protest against the three laws they find pro-corporate and against the existing mandi and MSP procurement systems. Union Health Ministry commented on the deaths post the covid-19 vaccination. Additional secretary said that 3 out of 4 deaths were unrelated to vaccination. In total 7.86 lakh healthcare workers have received Covid-19 vaccine jabs till the evening of the fifth day of the nationwide immunisation drive, as per provisional report of the Union Health Ministry on Jan 20. "The cumulative number of healthcare workers vaccinated against Covid-19 has touched 7,868,42 (till 6 pm Wednesday) through 14,119 sessions, as per the provisional report," the ministry said. On the four deaths reported, one each from Uttar Pradesh and Telangana and two from Karnataka, the official said in case of the death from Moradabad in UP, post mortem confirmed cardio-pulmonary disease and is not related to vaccination. “About the death reported from Bellary in Karnataka, post mortem suggested myocardial infarction and it is not related to vaccination. The other death reported in Shivamoga is also a suspected case of myocardial infarction not related to immunization,” Union Health Ministry Manohar Agnani said. Watch the full video for more.

Association of Private Schools has put up posters of 'no fees-no exams' outside schools in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad. In a meeting, the association has decided they are not going to allow students to appear in the examinations until and unless they have paid the fees. "We'll not allow students to appear in exams if they don't pay fees," said official of the association to ANI. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the schools across the country.
Farmers on January 20 assembled at Harike Pattan in Tarn Taran district to head to Delhi, ahead of their proposed tractor rally on Republic Day. Protesting farmers and their leaders have said that they will take out a massive tractor rally in Delhi on January 26 in protest of the three farm laws. Farmers have been protesting on different borders of the national capital since November 26 against the three newly enacted farm laws - Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
A Punjab artist painted portraits of US President-elect Joe Biden and VP-elect Kamala Harris on the eve of their inauguration. Jagjot Singh Rubal painted the portraits as a gift to the leaders on their swearing-in. The artist also expressed his wish to display his work in the White House. Rubal took 20 days to complete the portraits painted on joint canvas using acrylic colours. He had earlier received a letter of appreciation from PM Modi for his portrait. The artist from Amritsar currently holds as many as 10 world records. Biden-Harris' inauguration ceremony is scheduled to take place on January 20 at the US Capitol. The BJP has said that the party will not project a Chief Ministerial face in West Bengal. BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya said that BJP never projects a Chief Ministerial face in states that it is not in power. BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya reacted on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's statement calling the party "more dangerous than Naxals". A burglar wearing a personal protective equipment kit robbed a jewellery showroom in Delhi's Kalkaji. The man entered into the store from the roof after jumping from an adjoining building with the help of a rope. Burglar arrived at 9:40 pm and fled at 3:50 am from the showroom with jewellery worth around Rs 6 crore.
