BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya reacted on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's statement calling the party "more dangerous than Naxals". He said that BJP doesn't need CM Banerjee's certificate that it is dangerous or not. "People of the country have made Narendra Modi Prime Minister second time so we don't need Mamata Banerjee's certificate,' he said. He added that BJP will only choose those TMC leaders who are not indulged in anti-national activities.
Ranjan Banerjee, senior vice-president of Aditya Birla Group, joined the BJP in Kolkata on January 20. He joined the party in the presence of BJP's national vice president Mukul Roy. Meanwhile, Arindam Bhattacharya, a former Congress MLA who later switched to TMC joined BJP. He joined BJP in the presence of party leader Kailash Vijayvargiya in New Delhi. Speaking to ANI, Ranjan Banerjee said, "I thank BJP for giving me this opportunity to serve the people of the state. We need to bring industries here so that people can get employment." Days after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that she would contest the upcoming state assembly election from Nandigram, now her former aide turned BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has hit back. While Adhikari refused to confirm his candidature from Nandigram, he said that he would guarantee the victory of the candidate the BJP fields in Nandigram. ‘Mamata Banerjee has announced to contest from there, relying on 62,000 votes but I have 2.13 lakh people who chant 'Jai Shri Ram,’ Adhikari said. A face-off is brewing between leaders of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) and chief of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) chief Gurnam Singh Chaduni. The latter's alleged bids to organise a meeting with political parties was labelled as 'unauthorised' by the SKM which claims that it wants to keep the ongoing farmer protests apolitical. Chaduni called the allegations a plot by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to break the protest. Haryana Education Minister, Kanwar Pal Gujjar informed that the classes for students of 6th to 8th standard will resume soon. "We are going to soon resume classes for students of 6th to 8th standard, probably by February 01. Once these classes get underway, we'll think about resuming classes for primary classes after 15 February...We have thought about reducing school syllabus and holding examinations in April."
While addressing a joint press conference at Tikri Border on January 17, the convener of Kisan Sangharsh Samiti in Haryana, Mandip Nathwan spoke on farmers protest. Nathwan said, "On behest of government, some people want to turn this agitation violent. This agitation is against policies of government, and not against Delhi." "We should implement strategy finalised by Sanyukt Kisan Morcha and continue it peacefully," he added. "It is being said that farmers would unfurl tricolour at Red Fort and tractors and tanks would roll together (on January 26). No such programme has been finalised by the Morcha. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated air taxi services on Thursday. The air taxi service was launched from Chandigarh to Hisar under the UDAN scheme of the Central government. Khattar informed that air services would also start from Hisar to Dehradun in the second phase, while in the third phase two more routes will be added. "These air taxis will be four-seaters and have a speed limit of 250 km/hour. For the first time in the country, a small aircraft in the form of an air taxi is being used for services," the CM said. He added, "In the second phase, services for Hisar to Dehradun will be started on January 18. In the third phase, two more routes from Chandigarh to Dehradun and Hisar to Dharamshala will be added on January 23."

India's first air taxi services were inaugurated in Haryana on January 14. State Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today inaugurated the service at Chandigarh Airport. The services will start from Chandigarh to Hisar under UDAN scheme of Central Government. "For the first time in the country, a small aircraft in the form of air taxi is being used for services. In 2nd phase, services for Hisar to Dehradun will be started on January 18. In the 3rd phase, two more routes from Chandigarh to Dehradun and Hisar to Dharamshala will be added on January 23," said CM while speaking to media persons. The company also plans to include Shimla, Kullu and more Haryana routes.
