A nine-year-old girl from rural Andhra Pradesh has conquered Mount Kilimanjaro. Located in Tanzania, Mount Kilimanjaro is the African continent's highest peak. Ritwika Sree of Anantapur became the world's second youngest and Asia's youngest girl to scale Mount Kilimanjaro. She achieved the record accompanied by her father, who is also her guide. Ritwika's father is a cricket coach and sports coordinator. She was trained at the Rock Climbing School at Bhongir, Telangana and received level two training in Ladakh.

Director of Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, Prof Jagat Ram said the new Covid-19 strains detected in the country are highly transmissible. "New Covid-19 strains detected in India are highly transmissible. We should take all possible precautions to prevent the rise in cases,” he said. The Centre on February 23 said two new Covid strains were found in Maharashtra, Kerala and Telangana. It, however, said there is no scientific evidence to suggest the new strains are linked to recent surge. The variants, namely N440K and E484K were detected in Maharashtra and Kerala. Mumbai's Karachi Bakery shut shop months after being attacked by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) over its name. MNS leader Haji Saif Shaikh had sent a legal notice in Nov 2020 to owner of the Bakery. Shaikh had asked him to remove ‘Karachi’ from the name. MNS leaders also protested in front of the shop in Bandra in November. “Patriots will never buy anything when they see the name ‘Karachi’. We made it clear that we only had problem with the name not the bakery,” said Shaikh. A Twitter handle, MNCDF Bombay, refuted the MNS Haji Saif Shaikh’s claim. The handle said that Karachi bakery shut its store due to lack of business. Karachi Bakery, a Hyderabad-based chain, is run by a Sindhi Hindu migrant family. An ex-serviceman, who was a star medal awardee during the India-China war, now drives an autorickshaw in Hyderabad for a living. Sheikh Abdul Kareem, participated in the India-China war and was posted in Lahaul area. He has now urged the government to provide a house to ex-servicemen who fought to defend the country. ‘Despite winning a good service medal, I have not even received any sort of pension or any financial support from the government.
