Ahead of the Assembly polls in Kerala, while addressing during 'Vijaya Yathra' in Kochi on February 28, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, "Kerala budget was prepared and presented and all money is given to Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB). I don't know what budget they are making if all the money is given to KIIFB. What is this organisation?." "We make budget in the Union Government. We don't give all the money to one organisation and say 'thik hai, dekhte hai'. Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has criticized it. If this is budget making, no wonder Kerala is going into debt trap. It is a questionable affair," she added.

A 63-year-old woman from Kerala is travelling from one town to town to clean roadsides and surroundings. Santha travels at various locations in order to create a healthy atmosphere. She is unmarried and hails from Peechi area of Thrissur city. Santha cleaned the streets of Thottilpalam village in Kozhikode which is around 200 km from her hometown. She removes plastic bottles, nurtures plants and saplings. This 63-year-old woman sometimes receives donation to sustain her noble cause.

The application consists all required information about various types of snakes in existence. It will not just help the general public in their encounters with snakes but also will assist the doctors in treating snake bites.
At least three people were killed after seven vehicles including lorries and cars collided in Kerala. The incident happened at Kuthiran district of Thrissur on early morning of December 31. Following the mishap, traffic was disrupted in the national highway. More details are awaited.

As India is set to start the vaccination program against COVID-19 on January 16, millions of doses of Covishield vaccine, manufactured by Pune's Serum Institute of India, have reached the length and breadth of the country. Himachal Pradesh has received 93,000 shots on Thursday evening as part of the first consignment which was dispatched from SII's Pune facility. The hilly state has more than 800 active cases of COVID-19. Kerala, which is struggling to keep rising cases under control also received the first batch of the vaccine in Mallapuram. The southern state has more than 65,000 active cases of coronavirus, the highest in the country. Ladakh also got 11,500 doses of the Covishield vaccine as part of the first phase of the vaccination program. BJP MP Jamyang Namgyal and state Health Department Director Dr Phuntsog Angchuk received the vaccine at Leh airport. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the vaccination program at 10:30 AM on January 16 with 3 crore health and frontline workers being listed to get the shots in the first phase.
Malappuram District received COVID-19 vaccines, ahead of pan-India vaccination drive. The first consignment of Covishield also arrived at Leh. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated first phase of West Coast Canal waterway, which will connect Thiruvananthapuram to Bekkal in Kasargod district. Total length of this Canal is 620 km while navigation for 520km has been completed. Entire project is estimated to be complete by end of 2025 which will allow seamless transportation through waterway. West Coast Canal is likely to cut down 40% of road transportation. The newly inaugurated west coast water canal is expecting to boost Kerala tourism.
