Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in Gujarat's Surat said BJP and Congress are perturbed and scared since results of Gujarat municipal elections rolled out. "I've been listening to statements of BJP and Congress, over past few days after the results (of Gujarat municipality elections). They're perturbed, a little scared. We have to understand that they're not scared of you or AAP. They're scared of people who voted for you," said Arvind Kejriwal. ."
AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has lashed out at the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal for allegedly refusing his party permission for a public meeting. Owaisi said that while Trinamool MPs give speeches about freedom of speech and expression in Delhi, they don’t follow those ideals in West Bengal. ‘Amit Shah to hold a public rally. You allow BJP to hold public rallies. Congress and Left hold rallies. But not AIMIM. Why?’ Owaisi questioned. He also urged the election commission to transfer all officials in the area once the code of conduct comes into place as free and fair elections cannot be held till those officers are still in power in those regions. ‘Metro Man’ E Sreedharan has formally joined the BJP ahead of the assembly polls in Kerala. Sreedharan joined the party in the presence of MoS RK Singh. He earlier this month said he was joining the party to make a difference in Kerala using his experience as an administrator. Sreedharan had also said that he was open to becoming the Chief Minister of Kerala if the party wanted. His plunge into politics is being seen as a big boost for the BJP in a state where it has only a single MLA. The engineer retired as chief of the Delhi Metro in 2011. Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the 69th Plenary Meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC) on January 23 in Shillong. The Union Home Minister was received by the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma, and other dignitaries. Vice-Chairman of NEC Dr. Jitendra Singh who is also the Minister for DoNER (Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region) and Secretary of NEC was also present in the plenary meeting. Governors and Chief Ministers of the eight northeastern states along with a large number of delegations of state government and central ministries were present at the meeting which is scheduled to conclude tomorrow. Various developmental undergoing projects in the entire Northeastern were discussed during the meeting.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a webinar programme on budget allocation for Department of Financial Services where he focused on encouraging private enterprises. He said, "There is still great scope for the banking and insurance sectors in our economy. Keeping this in mind, we have taken many steps in this Budget - be it our decision to privatise two PSBs, raising FDI limit to 74% in insurance or our decision to bring LIC IPO. Our effort is to encourage private enterprises wherever possible. However, the country needs effective participation of the public sector in banking and insurance."

JandK government has organised a mesmerising night skiing event in Gulmarg district. Gulmarg is world famous ski and tourist resort in north Kashmir of JandK. It will see around 1200 athletes from different parts of the country participating in the second edition of the five-day long 'Khelo India Winter Games'. This event is advance exercise of 'Khelo India Winter Games' programme that will be started officially on February 26. It will attract skiing lovers from across the world. The event is conducted to promote adventure tourism and aimed at engaging the youth in positive and constructive activities. The games include snowshoe race, ice skating, ice hockey, skiing, nordic skiing, snowboarding, ski mountaineering and ice stock. The government has planned many cultural programs as part of the event besides setting up stalls of ethnic food and local crafts. 'Khelo India Winter Games' is being organised by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs And Sports in collaboration with the JandK Sports Council and the Winter Games Association of JandK. While speaking to media, MoS of Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry, Kiren Rijiju said, "We want to support our young generation for excellence in sports. We couldn't provide facilities in the past. We are bringing Khelo India here as the place is naturally gifted to organise winter games."
