In India, there is no democracy, it's in imagination not in reality, said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on December 24 after Delhi Police took party leaders into custody during their march to Rashtrapati Bhavan over farmers' agitation.
He said, "There is no democracy in India.
It can be in your imagination, but not in reality." Congress leaders Rahul, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury visited Rashtrapati Bhavan and submitted a memorandum, containing two crore signatures, to President Kovind, and sought his intervention.
On the issue of security of senior citizens in the national capital, SN Shrivastava, Commissioner of Police, Delhi said that, a total of 39 thousand senior citizens are registered under Delhi Police Senior Citizen cell. Recently we started a public relations campaign and sent public relation vehicles. Through these, 600 more senior citizens have been registered. The beat officers regularly visit and meet these senior citizens. The Senior Citizen Cell talks to them and ensures help. During the COVID period, they were especially taken care of as they could not get out of their house. They could not get medicines and necessary goods. So that too was fulfilled by police personnel.
The Mughal Gardens will be open for the general public from February 13 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. It will open till March 21 between 10:00 am to 05:00 pm. Entry at Mughal Gardens will be made through advance online booking. The arrangements have been made keeping in view COVID-19 guidelines this year. Mughal Gardens will remain closed on every Monday for maintenance purpose. While addressing the media in the national capital, the Deputy Press Secretary to the President, Keerti Tiwari said, "Mughal Gardens to open for the public from February 13 to March 21, 2021." The beautiful garden is spread over a vast expanse of 15 acres. Mughal Gardens has often been portrayed as the soul of the Presidential Palace. Entry and exit for all the visitors will be from gate no 35 of the President's Estate.
Twelve children under five years of age were admitted to a hospital after they were administered sanitiser drops instead of polio vaccine in Maharashtra's Yavatmal on February 01, The children were admitted to the hospital and are doing fine now. India's second phase of the vaccination drive began today, opening registerations for people above 60 years and those aged 45 in the second phase of the inoculation drive. In the second phase, Prime Minister was among the first to take the vaccination. Till now questions had been raised that why has the Prime Minister not taken the vaccine. Not just that he even opted out for the Bharat Biotech's covaxin that led to a barrage of criticism from the opposition for the trials for the vaccine still had not been completed.
