Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and his deputy O Paneerselvam on December 24 paid floral tributes to late MGR on his 33rd death anniversary at MGR Memorial on Marina Beach in Chennai.

Actor-turned politician, MGR served as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu for 10 years from 1977 to 1987.

MGR is widely respected in the state and mentored former chief minister J Jayalalithaa under his wings.
