DDC elections were farewell party for Muftis, Abdullahs: BJP JandK In-charge
BJP National General Secretary and In-charge JandK Tarun Chugh slammed NCP and PDP parties' supremos by saying that the District Development Council (DDC) elections were the farewell party for the Muftis and sons and the Abdullahs and sons.
He said, "These District Development Council (DDC) elections were the farewell party for the Muftis and sons and the Abdullahs and sons ... I see a future BJP chief minister in Jammu and Kashmir."
Indian Army organised felicitation ceremony for maintaining communal harmony at Sune Gali Border, Poonch by donating Rs 1 lakh for the maintenance of historical Peer Baba Dargah. It is believed that Sune Gali Peer Baba, a mystic, used to wander in this border area in the year 1920-1925. People from all faiths used to come here from all parts of J-K. Mohd Sultan, a Mufti said, "It's a very good environment here. The people who used to come here from different places mostly women have been provided facilities of staying here. I am grateful to the Indian Army who donated Rs 1 lakh."Abdul Hafeez, Sarpanch said, "I am thankful to Indian Army for cooperation and support who had maintained the Peer Baba Dargah." Mohd Shreef, Imaam said, "I am grateful to Indian Army for providing bathroom and water facilities earlier and now the facilities here at Peer Baba Dargah."
With an aim to fortify the bond of love and communal harmony among the people of Jammu and Kashmir, a religious conference was organized at the Sher-e-Kashmiri Convention Centre in Srinagar city. Inaugurated by the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, the conference urged religious leaders to spread the message of peace and brotherhood among the citizens of the union territory. The Lieutenant Governor highlighted that Jammu and Kashmir is an ocean of spirituality and that multicultural harmony has always been one of the key features of the territory. The daylong conference witnessed the participation of around 550 religious leaders including Moulvis and Muftis with around 200 youngsters and 200 women. Representatives also discussed the role of religion in the betterment of society and how it can build strong connection among people of different faiths. Events like these not only spread a message of religious coexistence but also paves a way for building a peaceful and harmonious society.
Ahead of the sixth phase of voting in West Bengal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held massive roadshows. While the BJP leader held a rally in Habra, the Trinamool Congress chief led a roadshow in Kolkata. Many participants at the rallies didn't follow Covid protocol, failing to maintain social distance. Reacting to the resignation of Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, the BJP said the NCP leader Sharad Pawar must have understood the implications of giving a clean chit to Deshmukh who tendered his resignation to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on April 05. "Sharad Pawar Ji is a senior political leader of the country. He ought to have understood the implications of giving a complete clean chit to Anil Deshmukh," said Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad while also pressing for a fair investigation. Anil Deshmukh is facing allegations of corruption levelled by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh.
Soon after the Bombay HC directed the CBI to conduct a preliminary inquiry within 15 days into the corruption allegations against Anil Deshmukh. Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh resigned on Monday hours. Anil Deshmukh’s resignation from the post of Maharashtra home minister has triggered a fresh wave of turmoil in the ruling Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi. However, if sources are to be believed, the NCP already has a leader lined up to replace Anil Deshmukh. Dilip Walse Patil, the current minister for labour, and excise, will most likely replace Anil Deshmukh as Maharashtra home minister.

Soon after Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, state minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik informed that Anil Deshmukh no more wanted to remain in his post. "After the high court order, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh met Pawar Ji and party leaders and said he doesn't want to remain in the post because the inquiry will be there. He went to tender his resignation to the CM. Party has requested to the CM to accept his resignation," said Nawab Malik. Anil Deshmukh's resignation comes amid corruption allegations by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. In his resignation letter to Maharashtra CM, Home Minister said he doesn't find it morally correct to continue as the home minister after Bombay High Court's order.
Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (JKPDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti on April12 appealed to the youth of Union Territory to leave weapons and start advocating for the welfare of JandK. Underlining the Bodo peace talks in Assam, she also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not initiating similar peace deals in Kashmir. "We ask our nation to give us back what was snatched away from us. If you want people of Jammu and Kashmir, you'll have to reinstate our honour. There's no other way. I say this to my country. Why does BJP get angry when I say it? Will I ask from Pakistan? If PM Narendra Modi appeals to militants of Assam to join the mainstream and leave their weapons, if talks are held with Boro (Bodo), then what is the difficulty in doing the same in Jammu and Kashmir? Why is there no option besides jail? How long will this injustice continue?," said PDP chief. She further said, "Nobody will understand the language of weapons. If you present your views peacefully, the world will listen to you. If you speak language of guns you'll be killed and you'll gain nothing. I appeal to Jammu and Kashmir youth to leave weapons and talk. They'll have to listen one day."
Three former PDP leaders Khurshid Alam, Pir Mansoor and Syed Basharat Ahmed Bukhari joined People's Conference in the presence of party chairman Sajjad Lone. Sajjad Lone said that Khurshid Alam, Pir Mansoor and Syed Basharat have joined a political moment and coming decades will play a pivotal role in contributing to the state of J-K. Mehbooba Mufti appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in J&K’s Srinagar. The PDP president was at the ED in connection with a money laundering case. Mufti reached the ED on March 25 to face questioning in the case. The PDP president did not appear before the agency in Delhi on Monday. Mufti cited she had prior commitments that could not be cancelled. Her request to ED officials that she be questioned in Srinagar was accepted.
