Farmers' leader Manjeet Singh Rai on January 03 informed that they will celebrate the festival of Lohri by burning the copies of Farm Laws.

"We will celebrate Lohri on 13th January by burning the copies of Farm Laws.

We'll celebrate Kisan Diwas on 23rd Jan, on the occasion of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's birth anniversary," said Farmers' leader Manjeet Singh Rai.

72nd battalion of Border Security Force jawans celebrated Lohri at the Poonch camp on January 13. Jawans lit a bonfire and danced around it on folk music. One lakh copies of the three agri laws were burnt at the Singhu border alone, said Paramjeet Singh of Samyukta Kisan Morcha. Lohri is widely celebrated in Punjab and Haryana to mark the harvesting of Rabi crops. People traditionally celebrate it by circling around bonfires, throwing food items -- peanuts, puffed rice, popcorn etc -- into the fire, singing folk songs, dancing, and feasting on the festive food. ‘Farmer leaders involved in violence’: Delhi police on tractor rally chaos

Delhi Police on Wednesday alleged that farmer leader made inflammatory speeches and were involved in the violence during the tractor parade by agitating farmers that left 394 of its personnel injured, as it warned that no culprit will be spared. Addressing a press conference here, Delhi Police Commissioner S N Srivastava said farmer unions did not follow conditions set for the rally that was supposed to be held from 12 PM to 5 PM with 5,000 tractors and accused them of betrayal. "Police had many options but remained calm. We dealt with the situation in a proper way that is why no one was killed due to police action during the tractor rally violence," Shrivastava told reporters. "We are using the facial recognition system and taking the help of CCTV and video footage to identify the accused. Strict action will be taken against those identified.
