India's Neighbourhood First policy helped us during COVID-19: Sri Lankan FM
India's Neighbourhood First Policy has made positive impact on Sri Lanka's health sector and economy during COVID-19 crisis, said Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena on January 06 during joint press conference by him and Indias' External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in Colombo.
"On behalf of President of Sri Lanka, the government and people for Sri Lanka, I convey our profound gratitude to PM Modi, Indian government for the tremendous support India extended in the past several months to mitigate the adverse impact of the COVID pandemic.
India's Neighbourhood First Policy has made a positive impact on the health sector and economy during this period of unprecedented crisis," said Gunawardena.
While addressing a press conference in the national capital on March 05, the official spokesperson, Anurag Srivastava clarified on plans for West Container Terminal (WCT) in Sri Lanka. Srivastava said, "Our High Commission in Colombo has already conveyed to the Sri Lanka government that their media release in so far as reference to approval of High Commission was concerned, is factually incorrect." "We understand that the government of Sri Lanka has engaged directly with investors on this project," he added.
Indian Air Force participated in celebrating Sri Lankan Air Force’s 70th anniversary. On the occasion, IAF Sarang and Suryakiran Aerobatic Team performed the air show. Celebrations to mark SLAF’s anniversary took place at Galle Face in Colombo. IAF Sarang and Suryakiran Aerobatic Team staged a flypast and aerobatic display. IAF Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria also reached Colombo to mark his presence at the event. Bhadauria is on a two-day visit to the island nation on an invitation from SLAF Commander. The Sri Lankan Air Force celebrated its 70th anniversary on March 2, 2021. SLAF is conducting an air show from March 3-5 to commemorate the occasion.
