Manoj Sinha announces Rs 28,400 crore industrial development scheme for JandK
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on January 07 announced Rs 28,400-crore scheme for the industrial development in the Union Territory.
Manoj Sinha said that the scheme will encourage new investments, substantial expansion and also nurture existing industries in Jammu and Kashmir.
"The total amount that was disbursed by central government in industrial policy till 2019 was merely Rs 1123.84 crore while the new policy has an outlay of historic amount of Rs 28,400 crores.
It will encourage new investments, substantial expansion and also nurture existing industries in Jammu and Kashmir," said Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at an event in Jammu.
The Indian National Congress (INC) unveiled the list of 27 star campaigners on Saturday for the Jammu and Kashmir region. Among them are notable figures such as party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. These influential leaders are set to spearhead the party's campaign efforts in Jammu and Kashmir during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, which are slated to take place across five phases. The comprehensive list of star campaigners for the parliamentary elections in Jammu and Kashmir was formally presented by INC general secretary KC Venugopal to the Secretary of the Election Commission of India.

Polling in 102 parliamentary seats across 21 states and Union Territories in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections commenced at 7 am on April 19 and ended at 6 pm. Over 102 parliamentary constituencies in 21 states and union territories headed to the polling booth on Friday, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. West Bengal recorded the highest turnout till 5 PM at 77.57 per cent, followed by Tripura at 76.10 per cent. Voter turnout in Assam stood at 70.77 per cent, while Manipur recorded a voter turnout of 68.58 per cent till 5 PM.
