Bird flu: MP govt bans chicken supply from southern states for next 10 days
On growing cases of bird flu, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, "We are keeping an eye on bird flu and have issued the guideline for poultry farms. We have banned the supply of chicken from the southern states to Madhya Pradesh for the next 10 days.
We are taking precautions." On being asked 'Love Jihad' law hasn't been signed by the Governor yet, CM Chouhan said, "We have sent this after the cabinet meeting now.
The BJP has announced the nominations for the Lok Sabha elections, with former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan nominated from Vidisha and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia set to contest the Guna seat. The 53-year-old leader is among the 195 Lok Sabha election candidates announced by the BJP at its presser on Saturday. The first list includes several bigwigs including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah and defence minister Rajnath Singh. After the announcement was made, Scindia took to social media platform X to thank the BJP top brass for his candidature. “BJP's top leadership has given me an opportunity to serve the brothers and sisters of Guna. I am really fortunate. I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, Union home minister Amit Shah ji and BJP president JP Nadda ji. I am hopeful and have full confidence that the people of Guna will bless me. I will try my level best to fulfil the expectations of the people of Guna. Fir Ek Baar Modi Sarkar”.

Polling in 102 parliamentary seats across 21 states and Union Territories in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections commenced at 7 am on April 19 and ended at 6 pm. Over 102 parliamentary constituencies in 21 states and union territories headed to the polling booth on Friday, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. West Bengal recorded the highest turnout till 5 PM at 77.57 per cent, followed by Tripura at 76.10 per cent.
