Ahead of West Bengal Assembly polls, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president, JP Nadda visited Bardhaman and held a press conference on January 09 where he compared his recent visit to the state with last one and said "so far so good".
"Last time when I came, the manner in which I was welcomed enroute Diamond Harbour, we were attacked under a plan by administration and political party - nation witnessed it.
MHA took a strong note of this.
Today when I'm here again, I say so far so good," said JP Nadda.

BJP president JP Nadda attended party's Pongal festival in Chennai on January 14. During his address, Nadda said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been ensuring that Tamil Nadu takes a big leap as far as development is concerned. He further compared the functioning of finance commission towards Tamil Nadu under UPA and PM Modi. "PM Modi has tried to see to it that the whole country goes forward. At the same time, he has made sure that Tamil Nadu takes a big leap as far as development is concerned. The 13 finance commission during the UPA government gave Rs 94,000 crores to Tamil Nadu for the development. But the same commission under PM Modi gave Tamil Nadu Rs 5 lakh 42,000 crores. BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya reacted on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's statement calling the party "more dangerous than Naxals". He said that BJP doesn't need CM Banerjee's certificate that it is dangerous or not. Days after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that she would contest the upcoming state assembly election from Nandigram, now her former aide turned BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has hit back. Stones were hurled at BJP national president JP Nadda's convoy in West Bengal. The incident took place when the convoy was on its way to Diamond Harbour from Kolkata. CM Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee represents Diamond Harbour in Lok Sabha. BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya's car was also reportedly ransacked. Protestors attempted to block the road from where Nadda's convoy was passing. The police later intervened and ensured the passage of the convoy. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh condemned the attack on Nadda's convoy. While BJP's Amit Malviya took to Twitter and lashed out at CM Banerjee over the incident, BJP leader Sambit Patra alleged that he along with some other leaders was attacked. Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar also accused the state administration of failing to act despite warnings.
