Civil Aviation Minister congratulates Air India women pilots for flying over world's longest air route
Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri congratulated the women pilot and women cockpit crew which operated the inaugural flight between San Francisco and Bengaluru.
"I was tracking the flight, they have made the country proud," said Puri.
The successful flight which flew over the North Pole lasted for more than 17 hours.
It was also the first-ever longest commercial flight in the world operated by all-women pilot.
The crew consisted of Captain Zoya Agarwal, Captain Papagari Thanmai, Captain Akanksha Sonawane, and Captain Shivani Manhas.
The 'bhoomi poojan' ceremony of the Central Vista Avenue was performed by Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs here at India Gate on Thursday. With this ceremony, the work has started for the development and redevelopment of Central Vista Avenue. The Central Vista Avenue starting from North and South Block to India Gate, which includes the Rajpath, its adjoining lawns and canals, rows of tree, Vijay Chowk and the India Gate plaza, is a 3 km long stretch. The government has decided to refurbish and improve the avenue, as part of the comprehensive transformation of Central Vista. The government approved a proposal for the development of Central Vista Avenue with an estimated cost of Rs 608 crores. Moreover, the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has been entrusted to carry out this important work. The components of development work under Phase-I include refurbishing of Landscaping and lawns. Green cover being increased from 3,50,000 sqm to about 3,90,000 sqm, proper public amenities with toilets, drinking water facilities and vending area are being provided at 10 locations for visitors and tourists, among others.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation stone of two metro-rail projects on January 18. These two metro rail projects include Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-II and Surat Metro Rail Project. Bhoomi Poojan was held via video conferencing. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri were also present on this occasion. The completion cost of both Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-II and Surat Metro Rail Project is Rs 5,384 crores and Rs 12,020 crores respectively.
As the vaccination drive has already been kicked off in the Himalayan nation, the inoculation drive for elderly and most vulnerable age groups will commence from next month. Nepal has received the first batch of one million COVISHIELD Vaccine developed by Serum Institute of India on Sunday via Air India flight. The vaccines would be used to inoculate people above 60 years of age, which is 8.73 per cent of Nepal's population, in the vaccination drive that will begin on March 7. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, there are 2,652,258 elderly people above 60 years in the country. On January 21st 2021, Nepal had received a total of One Million COVISHIELD Vaccine from India under grant assistance.

Mumbai's Karachi Bakery shut shop months after being attacked by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) over its name. MNS leader Haji Saif Shaikh had sent a legal notice in Nov 2020 to owner of the Bakery. Shaikh had asked him to remove âKarachiâ from the name. MNS leaders also protested in front of the shop in Bandra in November. âPatriots will never buy anything when they see the name âKarachiâ. We made it clear that we only had problem with the name not the bakery,â said Shaikh. A Twitter handle, MNCDF Bombay, refuted the MNS Haji Saif Shaikhâs claim. The handle said that Karachi bakery shut its store due to lack of business. Karachi Bakery, a Hyderabad-based chain, is run by a Sindhi Hindu migrant family. They family moved to India after experiencing violence by pro-Pakistan elements. The bakery has shops across several cities including Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru etc. Watch the full video for more.

Bellandur Lake in Bengaluru where fire started in the day on March 04 was brought under control on March 05. The fire personnel and lake marshals carried out the fire extinguishing operation and brought the fire under control. No injuries were reported in the incident.
